GE's returning: Ambush starting soon (May 20th 8AM UTC)

Thank you UBI for (finally) bringing back the GE's. It looks like they are mapped out through April 2020 roughly once a month.

Start: May 20th: 08:00 AM UTC
End: May 27th: 08:00 AM UTC

Since someone is going to ask, here are the details on Ambush (C&P from Reddit post):

    Modifier

    Ambush
Always active: agents deal increased damage while stationary.

    Covert Ambush
Ambush behavior, plus health diminishes while moving.

    Strategic Ambush
Covert Ambush behavior, plus health diminishes when close to allies.

    Don´t move

The main goal of Ambush is to slow down - when you are stationary or in cover, you will get a damage buff, that will fill up a bar above your health-bar. As the bar fills up, you do more and more damage. When it is full, you have the full damage buff. When you move again - that damage buff diminishes until it is zero. This is only active when you are in combat.

    Ambush Buff

    Damage from moving

When you activate Covert Ambush or Strategic Ambush you will take damage when the buff-bar is zero and you still move around. So keep an eye on that bar, as soon as it turns red, you will take damage. (This is also only active while you are in combat)

    Ambush Damage

    Keep your distance

When you activate Strategic Ambush, you have to keep your distance to the other team-members, because when the red lines appear between your agents, the damage-buff you get while stationary will diminish until it is zero. So keep your distance when you position yourself so that you are not too close to the other agents.

It is... I have been playing it the last 2 days. All done with commendations except the 3 or 4 require Dragon's Nest and I have yet to find a group wanting to run those repeatedly. I say repeatedly as 4 people with shotguns, tech wing only, no downed isn't going to happen.

The Dragon's Nest with Tech Wing skills only was a major pain when I did that on my main account. At the time we had a group of regulars and we ended up succeeding several times but it wouldn't register. We finally gave up and went to bed and the next day the commendation popped the next time we ran it. Ultimately, we had 3 Classy Nomad's in the group. We all used Adrenaline (for the healing plus 7 seconds of immunity), Combat Medic (heals your group too), and to a lesser extent, Critical Save, and battle buddy. If I remember correctly, your burn resistance is useless against the burning floor issue.

I don't know how I'll fare this time as I don't have even close to a nomad set on this new account, and hardly any of my previous group are still playing TD1.

I completed all the Dragons Nest commendations yesterday with a good team that was willing to listen to advise. It isn't that hard to complete all of them if you know what to do. Ran the mission at first with players that went solo and consequently the team failed at the last stage before hitting the final button. But with good teamwork we did even manage to get flawless without any pain, and loss of health. It is just a matter of knowing where you need to camp and how to play it as a team, and avoid most of the burning completely.

If you play on PC add me, I can help anytime and coordinate the mission for success.

I've done D/N a bunch, and with a good solid reclaimer build, it is straight forward, almost easy on Challenging. However, on my main account when this GE first came around, it took us many tries to get the 'tech wing only' commendation called "Technically doable". We had a good team and several of us ended up using our full classy Nomads for that last room. We all went down several times but eventually we were able to get it. This time around, I no longer have any of my long term TD1 friends on anymore but I did get that one last piece for my Nomad.

I was so hacked yesterday (mostly at myself). On the run I ran my reclaimer, I decided since I don't do much damage anyway, I'd also get my shotgun only commendation while I was at it. Well, out of habit, I fired a single bullet with my pistol to blow up a red barrel near where I wanted to be. I wasn't in combat at the time, but that started it. So, I guess now I will have to run it again. No way I'll try that on the 'no healing skills' run...

Not sure it actually matters that much what build you are using. I ran Dragons Nest yesterday with 6pc Striker (solely firearms, no health and electronics) and we managed to get flawless in random team. I think one or two players actually did the mission for the first time. I noticed you were online but was finishing all my weekly task. When you are online during weekend we can give it a try. Personally I think the mission isn't very difficult in any way, except when using the highest modifier, strategic, which is same as granting yourself the death penalty. Key in the mission is to stay close as team and cover each other's back and flanks, also when someone is downed (using technical skills only) you don't have to run across the room to revive them. If they drop next to you it's easier and you can start heal downed players quickly. But for GE is best to do mission a couple of times to get all the commendations, and with each run one player in team can do the shotgun one.
