Yeah, and it barely works there. I was on this raid for 4 days looking for PUGs on discord, 8 hours a day going through different groups and trying to find a good one. It was always the same story; after 2 or 3 wipes, one guy leaves, then another, then the whole group dissolves shortly after. Matchmaking would almost certainly be worse, since at least on discord you can expect that everyone will have a mic and be at least capable of communication. Which is why they would have to create a seperate and more in-depth system of matchmaking for this raid.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
This argument is so asinine that it makes my head spin. How can you claim that an in-game video game item is "locked" behind free content? Because you're not willing to put in the effort to find a group, for which there are plenty of resources to use? Because you bought an online-only game expecting it to be geared towards solo players? I wish people would stop using the word "locked" because the only thing keeping someone from doing this content is themselves.Originally Posted by RubberStig Go to original post
It's a raid. It's not meant to be a solo activity, it's meant to be a serious challenge and it's meant to require teamwork. And there's really two types of people; those that just want to play the game and have fun, and have no issue going on discord or something to find a group. Then there's those who like to sit and complain and boycott and threaten developers with leaving the game until someone comes and solves their problem for them.
Just came across this: https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision...r_the_raidps4/
Made me chuckle![]()
I too mainly play solo but Im in a clan that has is relaxed no mic requirement and pretty much explore on my on as when I do play its at odd times day or nite. I do however ask for help or backup and I'm subject to what others may do But I power thru or fail it's a game but it should accommodate all who pay for it. Especially when they release it to early before fully vetting it then letting the ,players find the the glitches and problems in the game for them and for this reason they should offer full refunds s or give all the 1st yr pass for free. I have logged quite a few game hrs and have only started playing first person shooter games long time WOW player as it stands to this point I cannot recommend or purchase any other TC games going forward. But to the solo player plugging and good luck clans suck for the most part
I don't know why people complain about those asking for matchmaking. The cons for random groups are there whether you use third party tools or not. The two main are be the lack of Comms and coordination and the potential for griefing with kicks and as we have seen that happens even without MM. https://youtu.be/1_h7pngPTpc
so you jare ust left with Comms and coordination. From what I have seen on twitch premade groups fail here too.
There are several checkpoints and saves already and your progress can be picked up from where you left off within each week, resetting Thursday morning (in Europe). Get past boomer on Friday and you can play next boss on Saturday.
So matchmaking could account for this also. In fact it's key IMHO.
It's true that matchmaking a random group is likely to be frustrating and many failed attempts but isn't that then the players choice?
It would be very helpful to those groups that had 8, lost a player for whatever reason and unable to replace to try and get a replacement if none in clan
I'll just point out that I have group / clan and have run the raid several times.
Not hardcore gamers. But people who put in more than ‘1-2 hours most days’. At the end of the day casual gamers are fickle gamers, regardless of how good or bad this game gets an ‘hour or two’ gamers will always leave in a couple months for the latest big title. It’s the gamers, hardcore or not, who have put literal weeks of game time in that will continue to play this indefinitely, should it get to a good enough position. I was still playing division 1 regularly up until div 2 released.
It's actually the other way around. Casual games tend to stick to the same game for years at a time .. because ... they are casual gamers and don't have the time to constantly reinvest in new games. By definition Hardcore gamers play a large variety of games and chop and change far more than casuals do. I know because I was a hardcore gamer for over 20 yrs. Now I am casual ... and like my mates who play casual with me ... we have played nothing but Division for the last 2 years. The ONLY game we play an hour here and and hour there where we can ... hence ... casual gaming.Originally Posted by tom12shot Go to original post
And we continue to see TD2 tumble in viewers on twitch and the big TD2 players are starting to play other games as there is zero content left and the pvp is beyond pvp. What is left for them to do?
I would love to see the stats on "casual" players vs hard core. I think the Casuals are a huge majority.
