    “The act of Discovery”

I just rewatched the SOTG segment in which they spoke about the lack of matchmaking for the launch of the raid. And I see the point they are trying to make and then they keep bringing up this idea of “discovery”. And how during this intial launch period they wanted a particular feel; you and your squad all organized and coordinated going into the raid and through trial, error, discussion, then more trial and error, kick ***, and get sick loot. And thats great. They spoke about how they want all of us to experience the raid and see what it has to offer. Cool. It’s a social game and activity by design. Sure is.
So why not let people “discover” the raid the way they are most comfortable? Why not let us meet like minded people through our random trials of the raid in random groups. We still learn something. We still meet new people. Maybe form or join clans in one of the few places players can actually speak, or really communicate at all to one another in game. I play console so I don’t need to be at my computer on discord. Like it doesn’t make sense you aren’t WoW, and at that WoW from like 15 years ago. It was a huge selling point that even during your SOTG - you’re so excited and have wanted a raid in your game you mention since the E3 reveal and then say multiple times since that reveal in posts to the community that all activities and difficulties will have matchmaking. I mean where is your sense of discovery?
This is just basic discovery of the evidence to the fact this decision rides antithetical to everything you talked about in the SOTG and everything prior. Not to mention how condescending you come across to your community not thinking we would have a good experience with random groups, or more aptly our inability to complete the raid with a bunch of random people. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE REPLACEMENTS?
The reason you gave was the wrong one. It couldn’t have been more wrong. We don’t need you to protect us from ourselves. We need you to enpower us to form groups for content - in the game. We need you to support your communities ability to complete the raid. NEWS FLASH raids are fun because of how much you fail.
They are fun because you fail each time getting incrementally more efficient, more aware of the mechanics involved. They aren’t for everyone, people will get mad and not try them anymore. That’s raiding, that’s limiting enough, you don’t need to back out of what was one of your best selling points - everything matchmaking - just because you “didn’t feel” it would be a good experience for random people doesn’t mean you don’t let us discover that for ourselves.

I got very good experiences with matchmaking for heroics. Most of the players did take care of each other and appreciated, and expressed the help they had from each other.

Any reason they give for not having matchmaking won't make sense, because it is a very stupid decision. Thinking about going and getting a programming degree because apparently all you need is a pulse to be a game developer

This has to be a technical issue.

This has to be a technical issue surely?? they must be struggling with the mechanics of matchmaking 8 people?

How do they have the audacity to say after much deliberation we think its too hard for matchmaking?

    Can't I decide that?

    You play, fail, learn.

I played over 1000 hours on the D1 and have racked up 168 hours on D2 I played and completed falcon lost with only 3 of us, all randomers in 1.3 which was an absolute nightmare but so satisfying to finish.
You know what happened after? we ended up playing a lot more together by adding as friends.

No content so far in the D2 has required groups or friends or even the use of a mic because so far its all too easy.

I haven't been logging in as much these last few weeks while the PTS was active and was looking forward to trying the raid and TU3 for a challenge but I see no point if the raid isnt going to be accessible.
I really cant be arsed to **** around with clans!

I may return a few patches down the line when the devs have admitted all their mistakes and tried to fix them...

    Play, fail, learn massive!

It’s a bad move that has clearly split the community. They should have just put it in as the community clearly expected because now they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

Don't worry, the game is so God damned easy I'm sure we'll be able to solo the raid.

i was tripping out on the Discovery part of it, maybe like 15 years ago but within 5 hours of the raid being out there will be a tutorial that takes 100% of the discovery phase out of it. You wont need to vigilant looking for stuff, people will have it posted on youtube the same day telling you everything you need to do in the exact order you need to do it. Trial and error will last all of a day tops.

That (which I doubt it) or I'll laugh when some YouTuber is going to somehow cheese through the raid by using some glitches.

I find it funny that people think this is a mistake. This is NO mistake. It was discusses and debated at length according to the sotg today.
They knew this would happen but still wanted to give streamers the first crack at it. Now its all mum and silence damage control. And believe me Ubi is a master at damage control. They do it better than anyone else. Every update since the launch has been 2 steps backwards. But yet they still feed us the line "we listen to you". BS, you dont listen to anyone that doesn't have a YouTube channel.
