Side deflect is bugged right now and since game has been realesed.
You have to dodje at the moment when enemy perform attack to make a deflect and then you can use your punish movement.
Each assasin at the game has got this "abillity"... it's a compensation for the "reflex guard".
But in fact it's not working properly as it should be.
When you do dodje as assasin you can see your guard starts to be "white" for a short period of time. This is a moment the "deflect" should be activated.
But in fact it's working well only with top attacks. The problem is I-frame for a side dodje. For some reason "i-frames" (invincible frames) has got priority over the deflect-frames. Forward dodje doesn't have this i-frames and after some trainings with bots you can perform forward deflect almost every time (like you do with a parry). But you can't do the same with a side-deflect.
100ms for starting animation (enemy can hit you) and from 100ms to 300ms you can perform a deflect (your guard "white" at the dodje). 200ms is okey move. It's hard but still okey to react for a good player. Fastest attacks in the game 400ms and people not always can properly react it. But if you try to deflect side attack you don't have 200ms you've got only 70ms wich is insanly bad... After 170ms side-dodje i-frames has been activated and no more deflect avaliable. Dodje i-frames and dodje deflect-frames has got exectly same properties - invulnerability. But making a move wich has got only 70ms to react... it's humiliation.
Why exectly i-frames? It's very simple to test. If you try to deflect side attacks with "anti-dodjable" properites (for example orochi side dodje + attack) you will get exectly same picture as you has got for a forward dodje.
You will get same window from 100ms => 300ms. This is not good and not right.
That's why every time i do meet assasins in online, assasins use parry as main tool of deffence. (they are just too scared to use tool wich is broken and not working every time you pull it out). Fixing deflect will make this virtual battlefield much more dinamic. And people will start to pick assasins more at 4v4 mods (Siedge/Dominion/Skirmish/Tribute). Right now... what the point to pick assasins if you will anyway do a parry=>heavy? Better to take some hardhitter character and do the same with much more damage.
I'm surprised that this problem still in game after few years. I hope this is will fixed very soon and game will be even more varied and enjoyable.![]()
Sure they do. Everybody does. It makes no sense to have it on 66 ms or now on 33 ms while it is 300 ms (if I recall correctly) on forward dodge. This topic is also weirdly dodged all the time on the den like a hot potato taken out of the fire. @ Ubi Insulin, what is your take on this? Have you guys been emphazising on this issue in your reports to the devs? There are always posts about that from time to time, but there is really nothing to discuss other than it is an obviously flawed state.
No, that is not really correct. First of all the buff to dodge happened some time ago and was sth that slipped into the game due to the great quality control and spaghetti code and was not intended. Side deflects had before that 66 ms window because iframes would overlap with deflect frames effectively cutting them by the length of the overlapping iframe window.
