Breakpoint: Classes, Crafting and Loot. A POSSIBLE Compromise.

There is no doubt that we, the community were listened to when you look at many of the features added to Breakpoint. Unfortunately, it’s also clear from the posts of the last few days that all this good work is hugely overshadowed by a host of very unwelcome features. Things that will in the opinion of many, including myself, ruin what could otherwise be a fantastic game and a worthy successor to Wildlands.

My suggestion is a step toward middle ground, at least in some aspects.

1, Bring back the AI team. Ok, this isn’t a compromise, but it needs saying. (Again)

2, Classes. First off, ditch stupid names like ‘Panther’. That might sound cool if you’re 12, but since the average age of gamers these days is considerable higher than that, to the rest of us it’s just cheesy. Worse it’s Division like.
Second, if classes have to be included, make them subtle. No weapon or loadout restrictions as such. Just small buffs in other areas.
    For example.

Stealth class: Receives a concealment and speed buff. Can blend into environment faster.
CQC class: Buff to accuracy and handling of SMGs and shotguns. Faster melee kills. Has a chance to avoid the ‘fight’ melee.
Machine gunner: Buff to accuracy, handling and reload speed of LMGs. Doesn’t receive a debuff to stamina when carrying heavy weapons.
Sniper: Buff to concealment when wearing guilli, buff to handling and reload of sniper and marksman rifles. Able to hold breath longer.
Demolitions: Increased damage from C4. Able to craft IEDs without returning to bivouac. Buff to accuracy and handling AT weapons.
Generalist: Buff to handling, accuracy and reload speed on assault rifles. Small speed buff. Stamina buff.

Link to weapons would be in the form that as a stealth class you lose the speed bonus if you equip a LMG and heavy body armour etc. You can still deploy, you just lose some of the bonuses of your class.
As a reason to why you have to return to the bivouac to change classes, they could create cut scenes that show your character zeroing a sniper rifle, practicing crafting charges, physical training. Stuff that implies you are getting into the zone for that class. (Preferable these could be skipped).

3, Loot and crafting (has no part in the game imo) but if it has to be added. Link the two.
For example: A C4 charge isn’t just a lump of explosive. It’s also a detonator, a receiver etc. Have this sort of thing as the loot gathered. Items that can be made into demo charges. Trip mines. Distraction devices. Bandages, pain medication.
And if it has to be Tiered, have it simply be the higher the tier the less is needed to craft the item.

4, Levelling weapon. Sorry, no compromise on this one. Just no. Save that for a Tier 1 game option.

5, Tiered enemies. Best save this for the tier game option too. Otherwise keep it simple and subtle. Tier 1 enemies are a little stupid, a little lazy and disorganised. As the Tiers increase they improve. They NEVER become bullet sponges.

These are just some ideas in the interest of compromise. It’s still not ideal IMO, but might help get us something closer to what we really want.

Very much this. The class system has a high chance of ruining immersion and the above quote could have an answer for remedying some of that.

I don't believe the other stuff is gonna be that bad, but we'll see. If enemies become bullet sponges as Nomad "levels up" (whatever that means), then that would be a problem.

For now, the biggest one is definitely the online only -requirement. That would be game-breakingly bad considering the amount of times I've witnessed the "lost connection to server" -notification.

Yes, I should’ve added that in. AI Bluefox had a reasonable suggestion on this in the Breakpoint forum, but I would still prefer they allowed a full offline mode.
