Actually, you can: on the front cover there is name of the author and title of this book - you can look for reviews about author/this book. On the back cover there is quite often an annotation - short text about this book. And you can judge about book be this two covers. Or you read every book to the last page before you can say this book good or not? And in restaurant you need to eat food which looks and smells spoiled before you can say that it is bad?
