Why are not more folks seeing the implications of ALWAYS ONLINE ?

It benefits no one but the publisher....
Takes some mental gymnastics to say it's better for the player if it's always online when a stable internet connection isn't a guarantee for everyone.

Personally I think The Division has better gun play and I hope they took a page out of its book for Breakpoint. It just feels so much smoother and less... loose?

I couldn't disagree more especially where sniping is concerned because your ability to make or miss a shot is determined by modification attributes that are otherwise human.

This article seems to shed some light on some of the gameplay systems discussed in this thread. Source outlet "Windows Central" is admittedly pretty unknown and sketchy sounding (at least for me) so there is still a slight hope it is just a bad dream, but oh boy it is not looking good according to that. Here are three interesting little snippets in case you don't trust the link:
The loot drops are quite similar to The Division 2, but the developers didn't want to make the comparison. It seems that they want Ghost Recon Breakpoint to be judged on its own merit. There are five levels of rarity, so you'll spend a lot of time replaying missions to acquire better gear. There are also a ton of weapon attachments accessible through a vendor.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint will add The Division 2-like "Raids" after the title launches. We saw a preview of these and they look spectacular. It seems like the majority of them will require you to fight massive tank-like drones that look like vehicles out of Batman.
The color of your armor also plays an important role in the game. While it may not cause you to be spotted during player vs. enemy (PvE) encounters, it'll play a major role in player vs. player (PvP).

"similar to The Division 2, but the developers didn't want to make that comparison."

Don't worry we'll do it for them.

My favorite part is how in the presentation they kept talking about how much they listened to the community when making this game. Really? Who in the community was asking for this ****? Maybe they meant they were listening to the division community. They should have been more specific.

Not the apologists... This game will launch with only the true fans knowing its not just a palette swap between the Division and ghost recon... Shameful.

Also from that article: "Unlike Ghost Recon Wildlands, Ghost Recon Breakpoint focuses on realism."
    Heh.

Please Ubisoft, don't turn Ghost Recon into another grinding MMO, keep it an action tactical sandbox!, it doesn't need "raids" where you do it over and over to get loot, just add more missions, it doesn't need loot drops, focus on it being an awesome open world tactical action shooter experience. Work on the cover system, character customization, the enemy AI's behavior in PVE, and add more side mission types: i.e. vehicle interdiction, HVT captures, intel gathering/stealing hardware, hostage rescue, assaults, defend positions, etc etc. and the endgame will work, people are still playing it today because it's fun to jump on with friends and get into some action, or if you're solo PVE offline.

Really like every idea in the OP. I am a huge fan of Wildlands, so please do not mess up this franchise the The Division! I really do not like the current state of TD2 and Wildlands still works great and plays great, so just build on that. Do not tear down and re-build to strip away core mechanics.
