    [FEEDBACK] About Online Only

Ubi, I thought I was going to skip this forums until few months after GRB release due to the yet again overwhelming state of kneejerkers with their disingenuous complaining mentality - just like in the early days of Wildlands announcement. Hence I become silent reader of Reddit to keep up with smaller news that you don't have on soc-med.

It is brought to my attention today that I found a news about Breakpoint being online only. I don't know what your exact reason is. I'm aware about the game-wide shared progression. I'm sorry, but this one I simply can't tolerate.

This game has single player and so by right I want to be able to play it even when there's no internet connection and undisturbed when internet connection is flimsy.

It looks to me your big focus is the single player experience, so why the online-only? If it's because PvP - well then, I don't give a fawdge about PvP, so let me play your damn game anytime I want. This isn't For Honor or R6S. Neither it is group-up type game The Crew or The Division. Nomad will be surviving alone, correct, Ubi? Like I said previously, even co-op doesn't make sense in Breakpoint.

So please, man. I really hope you can make a workaround for this. Hopefully this reaches the team well.

Apologies if this news turns out to be a hoax.

Why would it be assumed that it's a hoax in the first place??

"In order to provide the best experience to all players, an internet connection is required to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint."

It is a CO-OP game, to that will have a single player option. An option that they said flat out would be "painful but possible", much like cohabiting with a porcupine.

Now I was a willing volunteer for BUD/s so clearly I don't mind painful, however, just as I didn't decieve myself into thinking BUD/S was an fun outing on the California beach, I also haven't allowed myself to believe that this is a game intended for Solo play.

The story is suited for a Lonewolf in this case, Nomad.

Nomad, Midas, Holt and Weaver arrived to Auroa, it seems they got killed with the exception of Nomad, that's how the story goes so playing coop with a random set of other 3 Ghosts doesn't make any sense, the "canon" way to play is pure "lonewolf"

They obviously had to allow COOP as is what they have been trying to sell us since Wildlands, now in gameplay theres an evolution from that on which both PVE and PVP are connected so in reality COOP is the option however i believe you got confused with what they said (and i rewatch the stream) they use the words painful because you are not going to have any help, getting revive for example is an option in coop, you get to escape situations easier but when playing solo well you can't be revived which equals to painful/harder.

That doesn't mean however that the story or gameplay was written for coop, it just means that coop brings out more coop related features that obviously you can't have because you are playing alone, there's no one to give you cover and no one to revive you.

Is just like playing Wildlands with no AI , the only difference of course is that the story of Breakpoint is written for Nomad only, in Wildlands this isn't the case.

Class system, weapon and item restrictions based on class, item leveling, tiered loot drops, leveled enemies and forced co-op for PvE experiences(raids) denote that it is intended for Co-op.

There are other subtle hints as well. Your brother and sister ghosts having your back(from trailer). Or that none of the advertising shows solo game play.

Most of that stuff can be also because of the PVE and PVP sharing stuff.

But on the trailer part well indeed you are right but i wouldn't get crazy about it because that's what they do, is like the AC Unity E3 trailer, they show four assassins but the story is written for one, you can do coop only on some missions that worked like "raids" to give them a name but the storyline was about one assassin.

Something similar happens with Breakpoint but if you pay attention there are a couple of details that confirmed the story is for a "lonewolf experience"

    1) The first cutscene before the gameplay starts shows Nomad only.
    2) The end cutscene of the gameplay Nomad gets to Bowman but he is the only Ghost that shows up, but why? Well because the other Ghosts are just there because friendd of yours drop in your playthrough but they do not have anything to say and on their walkthrough they are going to become Nomad in their cutscenes.

All of these can mean nothing really as it was a pre-alpha and that's not how the game is going to start is just there to show off but you understand my point lol.

They have to show those extra Ghosts in some of the trailers and gameplays because obviously Ubisoft wants you to play in COOP and to be awesome with your friends, that's the job of the marketing department, just as happened with AC Unity but i believe that with the exception of the raids (which is stupid) everything else will work fine without playing coop. AC Unity first trailer was COOP and then they also show gameplay for COOP and at the end that didn't mean anything, it was fine as a solo player.

That said, we have to wait, maybe you are right and everything is a mess for the solo player which i hope isn't the case but who knows, everything still has a huge question mark on my side.

My guess is they probably just made it online only for telemetry collection and figured the tiny fraction of gamers without an internet connection is worth sacrificing.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if some aspects of the game are streamed or downloaded at run time. That’s certainly the way things are going if that’s not in this game already.

This game will lost morethan half of the players in wildlands, most of us is a PVE player because we don't have an internet connection, this is a big mistake UBi, good luck
