As best as I can tell, they have only been 4 comment by forum mods since the reveal.
Two answer basic questions. (“Yes online only.” “No plans for battle royale.”) One is an innocuous comment and the other is a thank you for noticing how much Ubisoft listened. (Kind of a ‘Thanks for the pat on the back. We really do deserve it.’)
But not one reply to the host of threads and posts crying in outrage!
You said you were listening. That still the case? Or are you only interested in compliments now?
Imagine you had their job. Imagine that thousands upon thousands for people are reaching out to you with love, and hate. With compliments, and insults. With requests, and demands. Now also imagine that you have only slightly more information than the people reaching out to you and on top of that the information that you do have, you're literally being paid to not disclose.
Kind of puts you in a tough spot. The same spot the forum staff are in.
Sure they hear us, they're gathering feedback and questions and pushing them up a level. And that's all they can do until that level comes back with the information they can share. It takes time, it's been just a little more than a day since the announcement. We've all got to hang in there together.
In the mean time, make it easy for them so they don't have any excuses; Provide some structured and detailed feedback. Keep forum threads on topic. Don't make new threads with nothing substantial in them. Then, throw down you bivouac and camp out with the rest of us.
We aren't just imagining their shunning the preferences and requests of their fanbase Crock. I should think after they abandoned the What do you want in the next Far Cry survey and came out with Primal instead, and now completely ignored the numerous requests for improved, not abandoned squad AI, would make it clear they only want to listen to a few things that are trivial by comparison.
Pretty much this. Crocks not wrong either. The mods are in a tough spot. What frustrates is responses to praise but little else. Even a ‘Keep the feedback coming. We’ll feed it all on.’, would help reassure they’re listening.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
I honestly expect the next major info dump to be at E3.
That premiere was aimed at the GR community, not the general public, with the primary purpose of seeing community reaction.
To what degree that was all scripted to gauge reaction, only they really know, but a lot of it was scripted, only thing that for sure wasn't we're the awkward inside jokes about how they play.
1000 devs from the start, probably pulling additional resources now in the final five months. Would not surprise me in the slightest to see considerable changes.
That would be why a lot of the shockers weren't included in the initial movie bit with the ret Green Beret... We were the test audience for E3.
You can't expect a big reaction from Ubisoft at this point. They are gathering information to get the full picture once the most heated fans come down again. And decisions for how to approach the fan outcry will take time. 1000+ people worked on this game. Think about the costs of that. Now they will have to think about if they are taking the risk of going on with the plans they had or if the bad recption of the forum here might indicate that a significant (and from a development stand point risky) change needs to be made. Do they have the time for it? Would they have to postpone the release?
You can be certain they are taking a look at all of the feedback here. They definitely took the previous feedback seriously - sadly they at the same time forgot what GR is about. We basically got Fallen Ghost + community requests + complete capitulation when it comes to AI squad (and sprinkled with some The Division).
I really hope you’re right!Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
It’s this last bit that really worries me. I feel like with the Division it changed from what was originally going to be because some said ‘Hey, Destiny’s popular! Let’s do that!’ Now I feel like some has said ‘Hey, The Division is popular. Let’s do that!’Originally Posted by biomag83 Go to original post
I guess ultimately, we can just keep giving our feedback and keep our fingers firmly crossed!
In fairness, with AAV coming out in a year or 2, and some other titles recently released by other studios, Mil-Sim/Tactical shooter is kinda played out. Most of the major studios are showing record losses with Ubisoft being a rare exception.Originally Posted by Hugo-FOU Go to original post
If they have pinged onto a winning model, I don't expect them to deviate from it much. As they currently have a couple of winning models going, a bit of mix and match of favorite things is also to be expected. So we will have to wait and see how it plays out.
Certainly if they realize that they are going to lose money on something, they will most likely make what corrections they can.
Bone, I am not well versed in video game acronyms. What the hell does AAV mean?Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
