Is there no way to appease both

    Casual and extreme gamers ?

I fall into the latter as Iam retired and typically will game 8 hours a day
    .
For me the news that the gear score will not change past 500 currently really bums me out.
My clan as well even the dudes with 600+ hours are calling it quits .

I have about 320 in game right now and haven't found any reason to really log in because my set of gear is fairly stellar.

Iam the guy that enjoys very small constant upgrades and while I am starting to understand that I may be in the smaller group as far as gamers go it seems like this is pushing those of a like mind out.

There have been changes that have pushed alot of casual gamers out too. Leaving only a very small niche base from both groups that is satisfied which is great , at least someone is satisfied.

Don't take casual as a insult I only mean those who do not live and breath gaming I don't mean any disrespect.

I am just confused to what the devs are doing /thinking as most of these changes from March to now have pissed off one group or another.

There is nothing wrong having a game catered for casual players that do not want to have a challenging, stimulating, exciting and rewarding gaming experience. But if this was going to be the case with Division 2 then I wish the devs didn't lie to us saying it would be one. The devs are to blame not the casual gamers. They are the ones in control and they are the ones who can easily accommodate both type of players. However they split the playerbase and broke the game by saying the game can be done solo that's when they started to dumb down the game!

No indeed, there's nothing wrong with it.
But it'll push away the core player base... that WOULD continue playing the game. And would actually care about it in 6 months time. It just goes to show that Ubisoft too would rather go for their quarterlies then for quality.

I'm done preordering from Ubisoft at this point in any case. Yet another company bringing out games that you're better off playing a year after release.

Thats not saying it will never go above 500. When the power creep hits as with all games the score will go higher in the casual game. As of now it right that the raid drops the true 500+ GS gear.

Oh I agree I dont blame casual players at all.

They want to have a good experience just like me so I cant fault them for wanting some things to happen that would accommodate that type of play.
I just wish they didnt push out the gamers that sink hours a day into the game either.

It seems like no matter what they have been doing one group or the other has lost players with each new update leaving only a few in game. Clan has been dead for about 5 weeks now which is a shame since that means 50 players just from my clan have called it quits I assume other clans are in a similar situation

"Progression systems, at a very basic level, are about letting people feel good about themselves. We all want to move forward to something that gives added value to the experience we’ve gone through. Therefore, we should all make certain that the path is a worthwhile one for our players, that the content is extensive and strong. Are we enjoying ourselves? Are we being sufficiently rewarded for our efforts? Is the investment worth the outcome? Have I learned something of value and am I able to use that learning to continue onwards? If you can answer these questions sufficiently and are able to implement those answers in your own gamified experiences, then you will be in a much better position to engage your players effectively and successfully."

These terms, "casual" and "hc" popped up on these forums because they don't have a progression system.

Fix the game and these players will become one.

Finally if this is done, they can actually start balancing the difficulties the way they should be, without making mistake after mistake. After all, balance changes affect the game's health, and so far.. they've been beating a dead horse. All the while being unable to keep the game from deteriorating week after week.

We all have different definitions of casual. I have 310 hours of play but consider myself a casual in the sense that I don't look up builds, chase loot tables, watch streams etc etc. I just get on and play: daily projects and bounties, weekly projects and bounties, commendations and collectables, while avoiding pvp like the plague.

It will never be possible to please everyone without the game just not being fun. As a mosly solo player, I think I should be able to play everything solo in normal or hard. Challenge or heroic should be group activities and should give better loot, loot that is meant to succeed in these harder activities. If you are playing solo, there would be no reason to need that loot. But then there will always be those that disagree and want it all solo.

I don't PvP so I would like one of the dark zones to rotate as a light zone for that week. Is it a game killer for me that it doesn't? No, not at all. What will cause me to game jump is pve becoming stagnant.

Based on this, I would sincerely recommend for you and your clan to try Warframe. Maybe give it a go while Massive attempts to fix (key word: attempt) the game...

Having a well organised clan means cutting through content like it's butter. So I understand what you're saying. They need to find a way to make dynamic content more dynamic. Or perhaps add a nightmare difficulty level with really nice drops guaranteed after completion.

They could, but it would increase their workload. It would also require the player base to be more accepting to the point of view of other players. Which is almost impossible at this point, we have spent far to long believing that only one side is correct without hearing the others point of view. The way you feel about no gear increase is the same way the PvE crowd felt when they got kicked in the teeth by the the whole "this is a DZ only thing and your point of you don't count." Later is got stated that 515 gear would happen for all, yet that wasn't how the fire started. The die-hard PvP was quick to brag that they was the chosen after all. Everything Ubi and Massive to be weighed and measured so that their entire player base has been taken care of in every Update plus putting out all the fires that have required their attention. Communication would be huge benefit during these times. When communicating using tweeter, FB, and whatever else they use, they need to also use their own forums.
