So maybe their terminology is misleading?

So maybe I'm a little more excited for this update then.
An hour + could be if the raid is learned and your group is properly geared. Starting out I think it will be longer. I think i read their is 4 areas. 1 part the groups breaks into 2 groups. 2 parts of raid the groups have to get random keys to unlock random boxes for a buff to kill the boss for that area. So it wont be no walk in walk out heroic mode type stuff. I think the video stated the last part is timed also.

As to difficulty, I accepted it as a part of the game and had no problems with it, it just took a little longer for me to solo as I didn't farm just to complete meta builds, mostly using what I had to come as close to them as possible. So not doing the DZ or raids, no problem. I had no problems playing only solo in D1 and even tried some incursions and usually went up to the point when you needed two people to open the next part of the missions. Still I enjoyed it for what it was.

The only problem may be if they become like Destiny 2 and setup content so that you have no choice but to group and pvp if you want to follow the storyline, not to mention also to earn next level gear and weapons. That's why I left that game as there are lots of other games that support my playstyle. I prefer games that have open raid content like world bosses that gives you the option to experience such content grouped or solo as part of the fight. So far it's been fun and I'm enjoying the game the way it is, except for the shortage of inventory space but I'm making it work even though it does slow down just being able to play the game without spending lots of time managing inventory.
if you think the raid will become a solo part i highly doubt it.

My point is I have no problem if the raid is group only as long as it's optional content. If raids allow people to get good gear and weapons that would normally take a lot longer to get, then good for them.

As I said I think the only way a solo player will see raid type GS gear is when the power creep hits way later in the year (season 2).

This is what has dumbed down a lot of games. If you aren't raiding or doing group heroic content, why do you need gear that is meant for that content? Remember, I am a solo-preferrence player, but I see the need for harder group content to reward gear that reflects that. Handing drops out to everyone is what is killing a lot of games.

When I think WoW raid i think vanilla wow, 40 man rag and 40 man BwL no LFR tools, spending hours just getting 40 guildys on at the same time.

I made the mistake of making a paladin. Not realizing that as far as raids went they were mostly trash. Wasted hours of my day waiting for the raid to get filled so that I could waste some more hours of my life doing nothing in the raid so that I could cast buffs on people every 5 minutes. Raiding in Vanilla WoW was probably one of the worst online gaming experiences I've ever had.

As far as this thread though, having a story mode that can be soloable that doesn't give you anything that much better than what you can already get from anywhere else, would have 0 impact on anything. I can already tell that most of the people talking about things already being too easy didn't even read one sentence of the OPs post. So many try hards trying to act like it actually matters that they can do slightly more difficult things. It means absolutely nothing. There is not a single thing wrong with that as an idea and it would have no affect on anyone elses gameplay.

Having everything on Story be soloable is a great idea. Just so every player can get the entire story. If you want to gear up for hard or heroic then the gear you get in story mode won’t cut it. Play on normal and group up. I feel bad for the solo players who got cut off from the story after the Black Tusk invasion. All we are asking is for solo players to get the entire story and all collectibles. The gear you get in story mode can be trash unless you get really really lucky and get something halfway decent. If you want to gear up for harder difficulty then play on normal or above.

I m pretty much the same as the OP.

Things I would like to see that would benefit my own playstyle....

more zones, more diversity in zones. Doesnt need to have new uber gear or whatnot. Just increase my options when I set out of my base thinking about what to do.
Increase in complexity of existing mechanics and features. The control point changes are a very good example for this.
Missions challenging me through set-up and NPC AI...not simple power ratings stone-walling me from doing something.
