If you seen the leaks you will not be able to solo. The raid is split into 2 teams at one point. Both team will have to complete a task to progress.

Only thing different is tougher and more enemies.

By the time the 8 man comes out, we all going to be GS 9000 and we going to be able to face roll it solo......

Also, we all will be flying around in our own personal flying car.

I understand your point of view and agree that they should keep putting in new content that would be open for solo play.

I didn't read through 3 pages of comments, but if anyone has requested to have the raid dumbed down for a solo player I don't agree with them.

Having said that, if you already haven't done so, I invite you to try out some of the missions on Challenging with a group. The game feels a lot more fun with more enemies spawning, and with the teamwork that takes place, it feels like a different experience. This is coming from someone who spends a lot of time playing solo as well.

I used to be a solo player, but now I match up for daily hard and challenge missions. Give it a try. It’s really when you get a good team and the synergy between players feels good. I plan to use matchmaking to complete the raid. The only thing I don’t like is the feeling of being rushed. Slow down a little and let me enjoy the story. Maybe that won’t happen the first time everyone is playing it.

I do get your love for solo. It’s a lot more strategic and you have to stay focused because no one is going to revive you. You can take it at your own pace too. The best time I have with the The Division and Division 2 is the first 30 levels. Hopefully, the episodes that come after the this raid are more like the story missions of the campaign. Lots of lore.

Don't get me wrong. I do matchmake for challenge modes and bounties.

There are 2 types of "raiding" I am familiar with. Lets say, is this raid going to be closer to WoW lfr or closer to mythic. Big difference between the two. Is it like Destiny raids that require me to find a group that can spend a big chunk of time together completing it? Or can it realistically be done in a morning, with matchmaking?

From the leaks it looks like voice chat will be a huge plus and is about a hour+ to complete.

An hour plus? Oh, boy. I’m going to have to free up some time.

So an 8 player challenge or heroic mode? Not too bad then. When they called it a proper raid, I am thinking mythic level, weeks of learning mechanics etc. Or Destiny when you have to put a group of friends together and it might take a few sessions during the week (I don't know, I never did any?)

So maybe their terminology is misleading?

So maybe I'm a little more excited for this update then.

As a solo pve player I accept the fact that there will be some content in games that I will never see. As to difficulty, I accepted it as a part of the game and had no problems with it, it just took a little longer for me to solo as I didn't farm just to complete meta builds, mostly using what I had to come as close to them as possible. So not doing the DZ or raids, no problem. I had no problems playing only solo in D1 and even tried some incursions and usually went up to the point when you needed two people to open the next part of the missions. Still I enjoyed it for what it was.

The only problem may be if they become like Destiny 2 and setup content so that you have no choice but to group and pvp if you want to follow the storyline, not to mention also to earn next level gear and weapons. That's why I left that game as there are lots of other games that support my playstyle. I prefer games that have open raid content like world bosses that gives you the option to experience such content grouped or solo as part of the fight. So far it's been fun and I'm enjoying the game the way it is, except for the shortage of inventory space but I'm making it work even though it does slow down just being able to play the game without spending lots of time managing inventory.
