    Gear Score

I am new to the Division series and need some help/advise. I recently reached endgame and am confused on the gear scores. I keep getting messages stating that I need to raise my gear score to be able to play certain areas but the issue I am having is, is the gear I am getting with the higher scores suck in comparison to what I have equipped already. Like the weapons/gear I have, have a few talents/mods that I feel I need (damage to elites, crit dmg/hit chance, allegro, stop, drop and roll etc) but the gear I am picking up don't have those or maybe only has one. I know I can recal them but I am new to this area as well but I know you can only change one stat and the talent tiers have to be the same. So can anyone give me some advise as to what to do? I know my crit chance is like 10% maybe lower and my crit dmg is right around 40%, my dmg to elites is around 70%. So should I just equip the higher gear score with the mods/talents that I don't want or try grinding for something that I do want? I am trying for a decent lmg dps build. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated by this newb

    Hi There,

actually the difference between those gearscores is Tiny.. higher gearscore only has a bit more armor.
Please stay with your Gear, till you find a GS490+ Item which is providing the same or better stats!
after the recalibration-changes coming next week, it will be way more easy to build good gear!
Then you can go for GS 500 Items with 1 big and 1 small roll, and recalibrate it to be better than you 450 GS.
i am in the "Endgame" more or less till release, made a small break for 2 weeks while WT5 was coming, playing regulary since then and my best mask is still a 450 GS mask...

If you need some help ingame, feel free to add me (PC player here).

    Hey, Feurigwarm,

I appreciate the advice but would you have any advice for someone with a gear score of 250? I literally just reached the endgame the day before I posted my last message. I have been running control points, side missions and trying to do some project activities and haven't really found any decent gear/weapons. I have been doing some research on getting higher gear scores and better gear. I am going to attempt some DZ runs and try some of the main missions but I am still learning about all of the hidden missions/rooms etc., how to get blueprints, bounties and the like. So do you have any suggestions as to how to get to 450 GS? Thanks. Oh, I would add you but I play on the XBOX. I accidentally posted my message in tech support and the support staff appropriately moved it to the general discussion board.

just save ur current favorite gear to a loadout or two.
then use an empty loadout and equip just all ur highest GS equipment.
run missions and CPs to get more gear, Higher GS drops equip, save to new loadout, rinse and repeat.

or you can find some friends who are already at WT5 to run you through things, they will get the highest GS drops for your current WT, and they can share them with you / drop them for you, at that point just keep equipping the highest GS items.

By reaching lvl 30 there will be "invaded missions" available. Complete them..
after reaching a GS of "XXX" one Stronghold after another will be unlocked.
After you completed one Stronghold, you will be moved to the next World Tier, where higher GS items will drop.

i can tell you what i've done while reaching lvl 30:
Did the invaded Missions, maybe a few Control points - reached the GS for the Stronghold - completed it.
Did the Same on WT 2 and WT 3 ... so in a couple of hours you will be on WT 4 / WT 5 with GS drops of 450/500

You do not need to equip the higher GS items if your lower GS items are better.
But keep the highest GS items in Stash or in your inventory!!
because you will get drops around the GS you "are able to equip".

    best regards

Gear score seems to be used as a gating mechanism to higher content. If you want to do the upcoming raid it will likely have a gear score requirement. Eventually they will probably also introduce world tier 6, which may also have a gear score requirement.

The gear that drops is also based on your average gear score, which means in theory better gear will drop the higher it is. As some have pointed out you may not notice the difference, and lower gear score items may also be better than higher gear score items.

Best plan is to work towards upgrading your gear to Gear score 500, or as close to as you can get. It will take time and luck, but next weeks update will make it easier to achieve this.

That said there is no reason to rush, so progress at your own pace, and if you are happy as you are that's also fine.

From the update next week any Gear that drops will be based on the Average Gear Score of ALL the gear and weapons you have.

This will include what you have Equipped and what you have in your "back pack".

So, make sure you have NO low level gear on you...pretty sure you can just hide them in your stash...and anything that drops will be of the same level or higher than what your average value is.

Sure it will not only count the highest Gearscore of each Slot you have available?
dumping the drops down to the average of "all" equipment you have with you, would force you to sell/delete those signature-pistols every time you change to another build, as they have a GS of 300 and you get new ones of them every time you change your signature.
I think, it will not be like that

If you want to raise the gear score, just find gear with the correct talents and re-cal the attributes. Get use to looking at this part of your gear. You re-cal only the attributes and the gear scores of the item goes up, this DOES NOT happen when you re-cal a talent.
