this is not the usual rant about nerfs and buffs or balance patches, so read on.
I‘m having an eye on this situation for a bit longer now and it was always a bit weird to see that the damage your gun does changed from one login to another. I always said to myself:“Maybe you‘re remembering it wrong.“. After having a discussion yesterday, where I took certain screenshots, I now finally have proof that numbers are changing without me changing anything on the gear set I have.
One of my guns is (was?) doing 28.9K damage yesterday. A discussion about builds came up and I took a few screenshots. Logging in today the gun only does 24.5k. Nothing has changed. I quadruple checked everything, exactly the same as on the screenshots. I loaded the saved build again just to make sure nothing has changed, but there it was: 24.5k.
While testing other options I was able to raise the weapon damage a bit, but not to the level I had it before. I pretty much trashed my build while testing so I decided to load the build again. Guess what? Now the Weapon does 25.0k damage. After messing around a bit going back and forth, playing around with the mods and everything I loaded the build again. Now the weapon does 25.5k damage.
I logged out, restarted the game and went into another character. Played for a bit, went back to this character and now, when I load the build the weapon does 28.9k damage again.
This is more than just strange behaviour. You can see the same things on the shooting range. When you put on a mask that has 30% (D)amage (T)o (E)lites and you shoot on a DTE setup on the range, then the damage done by the hits should go up. In theory 30%, but that's just not happening. Nothing is changing at all.
It's also strange to see that one day you melt through the enemies the next day they're bullet sponges. I understand that there are patches rolled out for balancing, but this all has happened over weeks now and wasn't affected by these patches.
I also have a situation where certain bugs seem to be connected to the character that you play and the save state of the game. E.g. the problem when a character can always refill its ammo independent if the ammo is full or not. It kneels down, but doesn't go through the animation. I have this bug on only one single character, the oldest one I have. So it looks like there is something stored in the save game that actually enables this bug.
Also the fact that menus are not updating when you load a different build is REALLY annoying. Same goes with missing pictures, which are a tell-tale sign that the game is about to crash soon. Same goes with moving around in the menus and then the game just crashes.
I could go on for days now. Right now building gear sets is more like winning the lottery than just doing the math. There are things happening that change values without any information on how or why this is happening. When things like this are an integral part of the game, then dynamic changes because of bugs are literally game breaking.
Yes I know there’s a patch coming up, but I highly doubt this will be fixed.
