I just bought Your Shape today. I was really disappointed with the quality of the game and camera. The camera is cheap and doesn't display clear, sharp streaming video on your TV. When I move my arms, the TV shows a blur. The blur makes the game think that I am not doing the exercise correctly. I scored a 0% on every single exercise I tried. And the exercises were not what I expected--the grapevine? jumping jacks? Who needs a game for that? I am hoping to see more promising workouts as I continue to play. I am also hoping that if I find a way to change the lighting and dress in different work out clothes (apparently baggy isn't even an option with this game) the camera will work a little better. I have to admit I am not very hopeful though.

I will continue to update this thread as I work out. For now, I would say do NOT buy Your Shape. Wii Fit and Wii Active are both better workout tools.

I used my Your Shape game again today. It went much better this time. I credit the workout clothes I wore this time around. I wore tight black pants and a tight black long-sleeve shirt this time. (I have white walls and I think my pale arms and white pants were getting lost in the background.) The camera actually picked me up and the game credited me when I was doing the moves right.

I did two workouts today: a daily workout that lasted 15 minutes and burned 79 calories and a special challenge bikini workout that also lasted 15 minutes and burned 180 calories. I scored above 60 percent on both workouts. I think I would have scored better but I was out of time with Jenny every now and then and I had a lot of problems with the plank exercises (I have weak wrists and no upper body strength) and the double lunge (I'm sort of uncoordinated.) Plus my black dog walked into the camera frame several times.

I was much happier with the game today than I was yesterday. I feel like I had a really good workout. My legs are feeling the burn from the squats and my stomach is feeling the burn from the situps and the superman exercise. I would highly recommend the special challenge bikini workout to anyone who wants something fast-paced and slightly challenging. It lasts only 15 minutes and burns a whopping 180 calories.

I am going to continue to use the game along with my treadmill to work out.

I will post another update when I work out on the game again. I also plan to measure myself and weigh myself today so that I can publish my progress along with the continued reviews. I want to track it for myself and I thought it would be interesting for other people who are thinking about buying and want to see what sorts of results the game can yield after a couple of weeks time.

Stats - Day Two of Your Shape Game Experience

    Height - 5'7''
    Weight - 169 lbs

    Measurements:

Bust (measured around the chest right at the nipple line) - 41
Chest (measured just under my bust) - 36
Waist (measured the smallest part of my waist) - 32
Hips (measured the biggest part of my hips)- 41
Thigh (measured around the biggest part of each thigh) - 25.25
Upper Arm (measured around the largest part of each arm above the elbow) - 13

    Nutrition Plan:

I am staying between 1,100 and 1,400 calories per day. I plan to eat three meals each day plus two snacks. Food will consist of 3 servings of protein, 2 servings of fruit, 2 servings of vegetables, and 2 servings of whole grains. I will also eat the occassional sweet treat--a cookie or two, pieces of dark chocolate, hot cocoa, etc. because I don't want my nutrition plan to feel like a diet. I am hopelessly addicted to Mountain Dew. I am going to try to keep it to one can a day max and drink only water or low-fat milk the rest of the day.

    Goal:

I would like to lose 20 lbs so that I am in the recommended weight range for my height and age (32). The goal is to lose 1-2 lbs each week.

I will update my weight stats each week and my measurements every two weeks for anyone who wants to see what sorts of results can be achieved with the game when it is combined with a nutrition plan.

Hi, I too just started with Your Shape today - just an experimental run - my new work out regime will start Monday. I am going to try this workout three days a week and do Leslie Sansone Walk DVDs and Bob Greenes DVD's on the other three and Sunday will be a day of rest or pleasure workout. You have motivated me to take my measurements too as it is so important to have that view as well as noting pounds lost. Good luck and expect to lose! Jackie

    Two questions, cornithhen:
1)Are you hoping to reduce your bust line?
2)I've heard something about a sort of special challange, is that the one where you need a code? If so, how do you get that code?

    Thank You!!! =)

This is very helpful. It's always confusing when you see mixed reviews (actually more negative on these forums) and I wondered if some of the glitches would get worked out after a few workouts and getting more familiar with the software. I'll keep checking in to see how you're making out Haven't bought this yet due to the negative reviews here, but still thinking about it...

Well, I have used Your Shape two more times. I have to admit that I am liking it more and more. It seems to work better in the daytime when there is some natural light flowing in, but that may be just the way my interior lighting is set up. I am basically standing directly below a light when I work out which I do not think is ideal.

I have been continuing to wear dark workout clothes--pants and a long sleeve shirt. I have also started wearing dark socks because it makes my feet show up better against my light floor and furniture.

Another tip--shut your ceiling fan off if you have one. I didn't do that the first time and I suspect it created a problem.

My last two workouts were good. I scored 68% on one and 53% on another (overall scores). There were times when I felt like I was doing an exercise right but the game kept indicating there was a problem with the way I was moving my arms. Maybe there was or maybe it was just the camera. I still see quite a bit of blur on screen when moving my arms.

In any regard, I felt like I got a good workout both times. Both workouts were 30 minutes in length and the game indicated I burned over 200 calories each workout.

I also used my treadmill today and over the weekend and was able to input the information into the game and get credit on my calendar/profile for the two 30 minute workouts. I really like that aspect of the game (being able to input other exercises.) Not every workout game is like that.

The exercises I have been doing in the Your Shape workout are a little repetitive but not bad. Each workout has been focused on a different part of the body. One was upper body and the other was lower body. The game even incorporated a few exercises that could be done with my Wii Fit board (when I requested to incorporate the step board into the workout.)

The one thing about the game that I am not sure I like is the frequent rest periods. Sometimes they are nice after a particularly difficult exercise or when I need a drink of water but other times they feel unnecessary. I suppose it is not that big of a deal--rest periods can always be used as an opportunity to stretch.

I am going to weigh myself tomorrow to see if there have been any results from the healthier eating and the workouts. I also plan to continue using the game and posting opinions here.

    1) I am definitely not hoping to reduce my bust line (which is rather small compared to the rest of my parts) but I suspect that will happen anyway--It did the last time I lost weight!
    2) There is a special challenge where you need a code. I have looked all over the Internet for the actual code and can't find it. I have a feeling though that the game will give you a code later after you have done so many workouts or reached a particular milestone. (I'm thinking maybe you have to complete all of the other special challenges first. I have two done and have been thinking of doing the other two over the weekend to see if that's the case.)

I know exactly what you mean! The same thing happened to me when I was looking at the Wii Fit game. I finally ended up buying (and liking it) thanks to a long term review that a guy did on his blog. I always think those sorts of reviews are more helpful than initial responses to a product.
