🛈 Announcement
Greetings! The Division forums are now archived and accessible in read-only mode, please go to the new platform to discuss the game

Please don't limit 515s to certain activities. It was a proven failure in TD1.

Remember when 240s only dropping in Invasions with a weekly lockout and a lot of us just logged in once a week to do it and then shelf Division?

Remember when Underground not dropping classifieds and a lot of us just stopped running them?

Remember when the best way to get classified gear was to run Global Events and a lot of us only logged in for the GEs?

Please don't make the exact same mistakes you made in TD1 by limiting 515s only to raids and thus making the vast majority of your content irrelevant.

Please don't "tier" your content, forcing people to grind a small fraction of the game's available content over and over to get 515s. It causes burn out a lot faster than if we can choose our own favorite content to run. It makes people feel monotonous and bored. It makes people stop logging in.

Please don't forget. The more you limit the options available to the players, the more attractive you make the option of "stop playing the game outright" feel.

Please don't throw away the good design you have now where we play the content we like and progress. When the only way to progress is to play a specific type of content only, people who don't like grinding that content all day long will stop playing.

Please let 515s drop everywhere just like how 500s can drop everywhere now, at reasonable rates so we can continue to participate in what we enjoy while progressing our 515 builds, be it open world roaming, bounty hunting, DZ, missiongs, strongholds, or the upcoming raid.

I'm just not understanding the issue against tiered rewards. I understand not locking it behind only PvP/DZ content but I don't get it in terms of all the missions, bounties and directed content. That's the problem with Heroic content now, it offers nothing over challenging. Same with the control point alert levels 3 and 4.

If you don't plan on doing the raid or whatever content that would even suggest you should get 515 gear why would you even need it? I get the desire to have it but what would the 515, or whatever arbitrary number would apply to raid/heroic/odz gear, offer you for the content that wouldn't drop it if it were tiered? I'm not being condescending, I really am asking this question.

You don't need the best gear score to enjoy the game

Dude, the fact than Devs completly ignored the higher risk higher reward in this game is the reason why everybody is leaving...to easy to achieve what ever your build is, and then what? Higher Loot in Higher Difficulty, thats the way it should be...have you ever played a shooter/looter?

Yeah I'm against 515 gear dropping everywhere cause then there's no point doing heroic content, for what 1 extra piece of gear with 50 percent difficulty increase or so.(not sure what percent increase challenging to heroic actually is) it's just not worth it. Tiering gear is fine, but you have to do it amongst specific activities such as adding control point tier fives, more heroic missions that aren't black tusk exclusive, DZ but a low chance to obtain to offset the frequency vs doing a mode, open world and such should only be if you're trying to farm for talents or a specific weapon type and that's because the scaling is all wacked. But also I think as newer and more powerful talents and sets are released, they should be behind specific content. That's like a new wow raid coming out and you design it giving the same ilvl of gear, as main content, then why would I do it? Cause it's fresh? Ok one and done never doing that raid ever again. I can't support this OP, sorry bro but I do get why you would want it, just doesn't give that sense of freshness or progression if everything is the same at all times despite when the content was released.

To respond to some points in the replies:

On raids. Yes I have played looter shooters. I have raided in WoW from TBC to WotLK and more recently FFXIV. I know and have experienced tiered rewards, commonly called vertical progression. Tiered rewards are fine with static loot and frequent content releases. You're looking at farming the same raid once or twice a week, for 2-3 months max, so about 30-40 times, before you will naturally jump into the next tier.

With TD2, getting that 515 isn't the end, as we will need to keep grinding for that same piece over and over until one with the right rolls drop for us. I sure as hell do not like the prospect of seeing absolutely no progression except when I'm grinding that same raid for the 100th time. It gets old really quickly.

On Heroics. It is clear that heroics is something designed for people who like the difficulty. If you are dissuaded by the lack of spectacular rewards, then heroics aren't for you. Heroics is punishing. It is hell. It is a nightmare. And it is designed for the few percent of the player population who isn't there for the loot, but for the experience. Limiting 515s to heroics will necessarily require tuning heroics down so at least a good portion of the population can farm them. Is that what you would like to see in heroics?

On you-don't-need-it. Well, that applies to heroics, too. It would be stupid to claim that you need 515s to do heroics, because they drop in heroics. So it follows that you don't need 515s in heroics, hence the you-don't-need-it argument is self-defeating.

    ----

The masses of players want 515s, or whatever is the maxed out gearscore. This is being satisfied now with 500s dropping everywhere. From mission bosses to FPCs and even random caches found in the wild. Limiting 515s to only "the most difficult content" means alienating a huge portion of the playerbase who are not interested in doing the most difficult of contents.

That said, none of us can prove our claims when it comes to words like "everybody", "most people", "majority", etc. But I believe Massive has the stats.

Either way, I'd just like to speak out and let the devs know that players like me exist, who chooses the content based on the content itself, not based on what rewards it gives. We don't evaluate content based on wither it is "worth it". We evalute it based on whether it is fun. Obviously, being rewarded is part of the fun, and a major part in a looter, which is why the current design of progression everywhere, faster in higher difficulty is such a welcome design.

And if you are the type who chooses content based on the rewards, then this design is even better than limiting to heroics. You get there even faster because you can just farm the most efficient content. The Heroic Raid can give 10 pieces of 515 while Normal give only 1, if you're really that disturbed about other people being rewarded. I'm fine with that, really.

I lost an edit on the previous post. It should read:

Yes I have played looter shooters. I have played Destiny 2 and TD1. Also, I have raided...(back to reply above)
