Since chainmail and platemail dont give you hyperarmor and leatherstraps and thun wooden planks give you hyper armor can we remove Wardens, Conquerors, Lawbringers, Centurions and Black priors armor so they can get HA on their attacks as well? Or do you guys at Ubisoft enjoying shafting the Knights as much as possible?
Correct me if im wrong but i believe that every Knight rework has either been straight nerfs or slight buffs with nerfs mixed in, while both the Vikings and Samurai have been mainly buffs?
Actually if any faction has been shafted the most I feel it's the vikings. They got one solid rework with berzerker. Highlander is as bad as he's ever been. Warlord has never been good outside of exploiting and his update completely ignored his full block stance. Which is where he needed the most help. Valk's rework was neither here nor there. And shaman has basically received nothing but nerfs and hasn't been looked at beyond that. TBH I think the only hero to receive less changes than her in the game's life span is gladiator.
Warden's rework is one of the two heros in the game who actually has some sembalance of offense in top tier play (other being berzerker.)
conq was mega buffed and is still pretty strong...defensively. I wouldn't say he was shafted. Just he was made into a direction no one really likes.
pk has been buffed and nerfed a lot. She's "okay." Not terrible but not amazing. Centurion and glad are okay too. Neither has received really any love from the devs.
Prior used to be good. He's been shafted. i'll give you that one.
The Samurai are the most divided opinion wise from what i've noticed. Kensei gets nothing but love despite still having glaring issues. Nobushi is insanely strong but is considered weak by a majority of the community. Goki is either a monster or useless depending on who you ask. Orochi is a monster or useless depending on who you ask. Shinobi is universally hated. Aramusha is the joke of the game but hated on because spammy OP damage heavies. And the new hero is either great or worse than goki. Depending on who you ask.
Granted it's been awhile. But last time I heard a thread like this most people believed the knights had the best heros in the game. Viking opinion was always mixed. And the weebs...I mean Samurai have always felt under appreciated or mistreated.
Wait what? My warden got shackled. I have crappy attacks, no light damage, a stamina penalty for cancelling the bash & the idea that 'now anyone can bash' over ruling intelligent play.Originally Posted by Knight_Raime Go to original post
Raider has (still has) game rule breaking (not game breaking) dodge GB options & HL had a fair run in the sun (now aged but still good in right hands) and the idea that the Shaman didnt't wreck face on launch would be a lie. Its swings and round abouts.
Warden has an entirely usable kit unless you're a top player. Then only bash is useful to you. But then again that's how it's always been for top warden play. Outside there every bit of his kit actually has a functional usage.Originally Posted by Sweaty_Sock Go to original post
I new I forgot a hero with the vikings. His rework didn't change anything for top tier play. he still turtles. So you could say he was shafted. HL never had a good time. He was god awful until the devs "buffed" him. And even in that state he is still rolled by anyone with undodgable attacks or something that completely shuts out your offensive form. Not saying Shaman didn't wreck on launch. That was 100% on her tracking though. which was taken care of rather quickly. My point about her is she's always had a pretty lop sided kit and has always only been good in top tier if you can flicker her bash.
No and no. I keep bash in reserve at top tier bacuase its honestly the same as a shugo 50/50 to a skilled player. The HL in right hands has alot of potential (the slow lights still have the same crushing counter window so...) his lights interrupt. What messed HL was the hyper armour rolling out en mass EDIT: and the faster lights to interrupt his kick/tossOriginally Posted by Knight_Raime Go to original post
You can say no all you like my guy. Doesn't change a thing.Originally Posted by Sweaty_Sock Go to original post
HL in the right hands has no tools to deal with undodgable attacks or things like Nobushi's hidden stance. Attempting to bait with armored lights or heavies on delay doesn't work against good players. I'm not saying you can't clean house with thighlander. I'm saying that his effectiveness is 100% based on match ups. And if you can consistently beat his bad match ups (of which there are plenty) you'd get much more mileage out of any other hero who isn't as match up dependent as he is.
You don''t vs the same as me then, the ones I do use the aggressive lights a boss to intercept your dreams and crushing counters to shot down your offenceOriginally Posted by Knight_Raime Go to original post
Offence is the issue however the heavy (out of offence) comes into its own when backed by a crushing counter. The best HL I face make raider doge/gb look like its through treacle
Edit: same tools as the game to deal with tricks (GB a hidden stance... etc.). Flow into basic building blocks then one trick pony moves become harder to read
EDIT: the old offensive stance bait into dodge kick /crushing (attack specific) fell aside with the sheer speed increases and hyper aarmour just punshing through (also attacks are now all broad swings which used to be HL domain). The best still do it and you die in three hits![]()
Statistically speaking the Knights have the majority of the game's strongest heroes in their camp. They have 3 heroes who are S-tier duelists across all skill levels: Warden, Conq and Prior. If you can't do well with one of them then you're just bad at the game. LB is probably going to slot into A-tier in duels and still has good ganking potential. Gladiator's overtuned zone ensures he has a presence in duels even though he's mostly bad. Centurion is their only outright dud right now but he was an absolute beast when he first launched.
Second to them are the Vikings. 1 S-tier duelist in Beserker (a character with no bad matchups). Soon to be joined by Raider unless the devs balance him properly. Shaman is the game's best all-rounder and a really solid design that gives her utility in any mode. Highlander is very matchup dependant, he can be incredibly good or incredibly weak based on who he is up against. Valkyrie has very good kit flow but she's mediocre overall. Warlord is not as much of a dud as Centurion but he's close.
The Samurai and Wu Lin are pretty much tied for 3rd place.
S-tiers in Dominion: Nobushi and JJ
Shinobi can also be considered as S-tier in team modes as he remains the only character left with a CC uninterruptible gank.
S-tiers in Duel: Samurai have none. Wu Lin get closer but still known.
The much lauded Kensei rework has slipped to around high B-tier in Duels while maintaining a strong presence in team modes. Jiang Jun maintains an A-tier presence in Duels and S-tier in teams. Shugoki is a decent choice in 4v4 team modes but remains a B-tier in duels. Tiandi and Shaolin are decent all-rounders but still a cut below Shaman.
Duds: Orochi, Aramusha and Nuxia.
Jury is still out on Hitokiri.

You're telling me LB isn't a walking set of armor??????? Heresy!
There's nothing under his armor! So he's kind of, already naked? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ °)
