NPCs in settlements react to player behavior?

I had observed quite funny and amazing behaviour of child NPC today at settlement:

We were 3 in a group, waiting for fourth to join. We were on discord, just goofing around, showing emotes and stuff. We were trying to guess what that “Charades” emote represent. Then one kid in shirt with stripes came wandered around ... and was observing clannie for few seconds while he was performing charade. Kid literally stood there, moved head forward like paying close attention, then ran about. We were like “Did you see that? The kid was looking at you!”. But that was not all. We started to make dance emotes ... and that little human came around - and started to dance with us! Then moved few steps, jumped for joy and started to dance again! After a while he ran away, jumping with joy as he was running.

We were like ... WTH? That kid danced with us! That’s amazing!

Just wanted to say I was not expecting anything like that from NPCs in games. It’s always just “hey player” at maximum. It really made my day. I wonder what else is there that barely anyone notices ... I mean it’s not like they put “people in settlements dynamically react to emotes” on the game box....

Much details was put in various areas of the game, too bad the most important ones were left behind.
