So I'm not 100% certain but I am about 95% positive of this bug.
My internet was acting lousy last night so I decided to play some single player farcry, decided that since I can carry my perks and prestige weapons over, I decided to start a new game to just freshen up the experience repeating the missions I had fun with. Anyways when I started the new game, it didn't load any of the old data for my perks and weapons (I assume it's stored online at this point) Anywho an autosave later and all my perks and weapons are gone, never to return.
IDK if there is a way to access my old profile or a fix for this issue, but I wanted to inform the bug, less it happen to anyone else, especially since a few people actually spent some money on stuff through far cry credits.
There's no way you can be "95% positive this is a bug", if you know you were having trouble with your net connection.
Maybe give it a day or so. When I first played The Division after buying it, it did not load my free trial progress like it was supposed to, even well after the point in the game it should have. Then the next time I fired up the game, it was all there. Even though I had past the player level I reached in the trial, it reverted me back to that point with all my gear and weapons. It was kinda quirky and strange really.
That said, I wasn't having any trouble with my net connection, and it was one of the first things I checked. I DO however use a VPN, but I really think it was the servers being slow to upgrade my progress. I even got in an argument with the person I bought the game key from because the first day I tried DLing it, it only showed the PTS version on Uplay. Next time I tried DLing it, the regular version showed as well.
The point is, not all things with Uplay work consistently well, and some features of Uplay can cause problems in some games, which is why I always disable the overlay. I always play solo so don't need it, and games tend to play smoother and less hitchy without it, especially always online games. My VPN is pretty good though, and I've never seen it cause hitches or even drop DL speed much. My 100MB connection tests at 105-106 without it, and 100 with it.
Basically if there's a fault at all with Ubi on this, I think it's more likely that Uplay could be designed better or servers needing an upgrade, than a bug in the actual game. Adding net connection problems to the mix makes it hard to figure, but it could very well have been what caused it. If it was, like they say, you need to keep your net connection running while a game is saving (or loading NG+ progress), otherwise progress can be lost.
Probably only if it wasn't caused by your net connection problems. If it was, the chances are slim I would think. The cloud only works reliably if you stay connected. One way you can avoid things like this in games that can be played in offline mode though is to disable could saving, and only play offline. Of course that limits how you can play and what features you can make use of though.Originally Posted by kallion0 Go to original post
If you are starting a new game by clicking on New Game in the menu of cause you are not going to have everything you got in the first game. You are starting from the beginning again.Originally Posted by kallion0 Go to original post
