I really suggest bringing in brand new people or a different studio to balance PVP . It seems that the people who balance weapons, skills the darkzone and pvp modes dont know what they are doing . Also this game for it to succeed needs weekly fixes not 1-6 months ..
Redstorm are not to bad when they stick to what they know and care about. That being PVP. But I will agree a major change to the Dev team is long overdue for the DZs. That change is glaringly obvious if you just step back a little and look at the bigger picture of the DZs. It’s an area with mixed play styles but developed by Devs who only relate to one playstyle. Frankly it has never worked.
The new blood should be a PVE Dev joining Redstorm to become a joint development team. With both sides having an equal say. Then ideas for the multiple playstyles might be better though out.
I don't think red storm is the real problem... The core fundamentals of the game are created in such a way this time around that no amount of balancing can make this game as fun as Division 1. The game is completely created from the basic for casual players.Originally Posted by Squirrelrabbit Go to original post
There is no way to create a skill gap. Short time to kill like CS:GO. In CS:GO even if you are playing for the first time you can kill a player who is master of the game. You just need to shoot from the back and he has no chance against you. Unlike Division 1 where a master player would almost always beat new player no matter what even if they have exact same build.
Skills are weak. So all you can do it deal damage. There are no other builds in meaningful way. No healer, No shield, No final measure etc.
The game gets boring fast. This is basically CS:GO with some skills that you can use for your satisfaction but are not going to make much of the difference. You can't use them mid fight.
Div 1: Do 100 things to survive and fight.
Div 2: Choose best weapon and gear, Use skills before fight starts, aim and shoot until you or enemy is dead. REPEAT
and it gets boring the more you play. I know there are some players still enjoying the game but at some point they are go na get bored.
Div 2 is a good PvE game but its PvP is no fun.
Div 1 was no so good game but its PvP was fun and had skill gap.
Balancing is not going to fix this issue. The game need to be completely re created from base.
This is false for the most part. The whole game was not designed for casuals. PvE is fairly similar to what it was in Div1. everything up through Challenging is pretty easy with proper builds. Heroic not so much but can be done if you take your time and work through it.Originally Posted by PranavStefan Go to original post
They made many changes to the DZ in the interest of "balance" but players are not forced to enter the DZ for the best gear or other items as they were in Div1. So you see the DZ being fairly empty. The other issue at hand is Div1 was in a great spot from 1.8 on and classified sets were amazing. With those types of sets non-existent the game appears to be somewhat bland simply due to the lack of being able to create multiple builds and have fun with those builds.
The bottom line is games such as this "RPG-ish looter shooter" need to stop worrying about PvP. There should be no balancing done in the interest of PvP. PvP should be treated as an addon for sh!ts and giggles only. PvP in these games is not competitive esport and never will be. It is virtually impossible to achieve full balance in this type of game unless they build a PvE game and make a spin off PvP game with its own gear, guns, talents etc. Completely separate. This will never happen so I stand by my statement of not trying to balance PvP.
With that, I agree with most that the DZ should not be normalized. Outside of that, and I have stated this before, perhaps the concept of the DZ has run its course and its time to move on and create a different or new experience.
Yes, they should focus on pvpve mode, a dz2 survival mode. I have the ultimate game mode developed for the division games, it would change the game. I have a lot of time into div 1 and 2, and been part of all updated and metas.Originally Posted by cditty72 Go to original post
wait, are you saying that the first The Division has a bigger skill gap than CSGO? A rpg shooter vs the most famous esports game? Or you are only talking about the time to kill?Originally Posted by PranavStefan Go to original post
what other games have they done? Not questioning they have been good on other titles just something ive been thinking about with how bad pvp is in the division.Originally Posted by Mark_WWW Go to original post
Or perhaps you should get some perspective, and consider how difficult it is to make and support games - especially multi-platform, live service ones.Originally Posted by Squirrelrabbit Go to original post
