    Unhinged talent

I have question about using the unhinged talent.
When I'm in the shooting range and I'm using my LMG with unhinged and the gun has a base damage of 26,000. When I shoot the target it shows damage at 30,000. When I do the same thing with my other LMG without unhinged and this gun has a base damage of 25,000. When I shoot the target it shows damage at 29,500.
Shouldn't the gun with unhinged show a must higher damage because of unhinged which has a 25% weapon damage bonus?
Am I doing something wrong here?
I tested this at the shooting range and in combat and noticed the same about damage.
I'm tested both guns using the same armor set also.
    Thanks for your help.

Your unhinged damage is already calculated into the base damage it shows you on the gun, same with the handling negatives. The 30k and 29.5k damage values are after your other bonuses impacting the shot, accounting for like a 19% increase in damage over base. In this case probably your damage to elite % which I'm assuming is approximately 19% I imagine if you swapped your unhinged perk to the gun with 25k base, you'd end up with ~30k base instead. If they are the same archetype of lmg then I would say the one with the 25k base damage was the better roll and would benefit from unhinged.

So if I understand you correctly.
The gun's base damage include's the +25% bonus.
If I removed unhinged from this gun the base damage would go down 25%.
So on the stat page if it shows the gun have having a damage increase of +38% is that reflected in the base damage of the gun?
If that is true and I lower the stat to +25% would that be reflected in the base damage of the gun?
What would happen if I had a gun with a base damage of 20,000 and I added unhinged to it. Would the base damage of that gun go up 25%?

Yes, but I warn you ahead of time their weapon stats can show up wrong and then show up correctly later, no clue what causes it. But in my testing yes, the 25% would be added to the shown weapon damage. my rpk goes from 16~ to 20~k in testing on test server which shows the 20% that happens there

So from what you are saying the unhinged talent is not that great, because the gun with unhinged has a lower base damage to start with.
Is there another talent for the LMG that you would recommend?
And thanks again for the answers.

    Just another quick note.
I had a piece of armor with devastating on it, which is +5 weapons damage. When I removed it the base damage of the gun went down.
So the base damage of any gun is the damage reflected with all the perks. If you remove the perks the damage for that gun will do down or up depending on the perks you have.

I will ask one more time, in your opinion do you think the unhinged talent is a good talent?
    Thanks again for the information.

All drops that i have gotten with the unhinged talent have been rubbish, but moving unhinged to a LMG that has a high base damage works well. I haven't been lucky enough to get high base damage with unhinged already rolled.

Hey! This seems better suited as a gameplay query, rather than a technical issue.

The only explanation I have is if you have other gear that is already giving you weapon damage. Unhinged may only be multiplying your base weapon damage. For example...

    Base weapon damage: 20,000
    Gear modifiers: +25% damage = 25,000
    Unhinged modifier: +25% base damage = 30,000

I hope this information helps, and perhaps more players can add their own input. I will move this to the General Discussion section for the time being!

could just be a bad base roll on the gun with unhinged. If you modded the better gun with unhinged I am sure you would see it get a nice boost. Now unhinged is really nice if you want to feel like you are holding on to the bad end of a kangaroo... to make it better you need to find mods, talents, and gear bonuses that increase handling. 15% handling on second weapon talent, 10% from the 1pc yharrl gear brand, ~25% from the knee pad talent, 20% from the (insert gear set i forget). If you want to avoid changing your gear like that, it still works really well for heavy enemies at medium range, or as a cover sprayer from short range.

Edit: it works pretty well with sharpshooter as a back up gun because of the handling bonus from the specialization too

Yeah, I'm saying the gun that came with unhinged on it already was a bad gun, but unhinged is a decent dps perk that you could move to a stronger lmg.

The other I would recommend is frenzy, but to me my recommendation depends on the lmg. I prefer frenzy to be on a faster reloading lmg because the perk triggers from reloading from empty, which in most cases lmgs have 4 seconds or more of reload, but there are a few with lower ammo counts that reload in under 3 seconds, which would appear to benefit more from the Frenzy perk.
