I'm not sure I follow. Anyone would take 1000 dollars over 400. Right?Originally Posted by Nennee Go to original post
Guess that depends on what you are missing.Originally Posted by CasualPlayah Go to original post
1. Is your build actually within the requirements for each of the talents you are relying on?
2. Where are you testing your damage? IE. Shooting range doesn't trigger talent damage on spotter.
Post a pic of your stats page and build, perhaps we'll see something you aren't.
In lieu of that, I'd always recommend static weapon damage before trigger dependent damage like Spotter.
1) Yes*. However the more you have of one, the more valuable the other becomes. The problem is you are valuing CHD and WD at 1:1 so just for ****s and giggle i tried to figure out at what point is CHD better than WD. now i could be wrong, but i think when you have 3x WD as you do CHD THEN 10 points of CHD is better than 10 points of WD. E.g. Lets say you have 120% WD and 40% CHD then +10 CHD will give more dps than +10 WD, and this is assuming you are maxed out at 60% crit. right now on gear they have the ratio of WD to CHD at 1:1.3 which is wrong imo it needs to be 1:1.5 at least. your original question should really be "whats more dps? 10% WD or 13.5% CHD?" in which case the answer is still WD.Originally Posted by zinfrim Go to original post
2) On a vest you can roll a max of 18% WD or the equivalent (in the opinion of massive) 24% CHD. There is no total cap on either that i am aware of
3) [1000 (base gun dmg) * 1.55 (55% WD)] * [0.50 (50% HSD) + 0.40 (40% CHD) + 1] = 2945 (this is a headshot that crit)
Honestly any gear piece that can roll WPN damage, should be prioritizing weapon damage first, imho.Originally Posted by Figs8511 Go to original post
I would never pass over weapon damage in a slot to swap in CHC or CHD. CHC and CHD being dependent on weapon damage inherently increases the priority of weapon damage.
CHC vs CHD is a harder choice because balancing them is of the utmost importance for optimization, but there is never a time where weapon damage can be balanced out by CHD because CHD isn't guaranteed damage and depends on weapon damage for its own numbers.
You can always get a visible benefit from weapon damage in white damage, headshots, or critical hits, but there are many circumstances where adding CHC or CHD in lieu of weapon damage would be of far lesser value.
adding 10% weapon damage = 10% more white damage all the time, and stacks with your crits and headshots modifiers when those are in play.
adding 20% CHD = Relies on your CHC over time, and adds to nothing else. meaning at 60% crit you only got an average of 12% possible added damage out of the 20% chd over the length of a mag and only when weighed against white damage, if you are hitting the head your CHD investment is even further devalued below that 12% over-time average when compared to the possible 10% additional weapon damage calculated into headshot yo could have had. Not to mention the 40% of the time you would've benefited from noncrit damage already.
Weapon damage is 100% of the time, in 100% of damage calculations. CHD is at best 60% of the time, adds nothing to the other modifier HSD, and relies on another stat being stacked to support it.

i did some more math and i tried to be a little more realistic with the numbers. so heres the scenario. 1000 base damage on the weapon. a total of 60% WD (from talent procs and spec and gear, this is basically what i will have next update if not more). 60% CHC. 40% CHD. Loot drops now you have to make a choice. 10% WD or 13.5% CHD??? Lets look at the numbersOriginally Posted by DogBiscuit4U Go to original post
1000 dmg
60% WD
60% CHC
40% CHD
do you wear the piece with +10% WD or +13.5% CHD... only one way to find out, lets do the math shooting off 100 rounds
1000 base
60% + 10% = 1,700 * 40 hit = 68,000 total white dmg
40% = 2,380 * 60 crit = 142,800 total crit dmg
final = 210,800 dmg total
1000 base
60% = 1,600 * 40 hit = 64,000
40% + 13.5% = 2,456 * 60 crit = 147,360
final = 211,360 dmg total
In conclusion FOR THESE STATS 13.5% CHD > 10% WD. so i was wrong in my previous post and the WD:CHD ratio seems fine at 1:1.33
I get by with 0% CHC and 29% CHD. Think my AR bonus is 36% and AWD is 21% Gets me through everything solo or group on Heroic,l evel 4 CP's solo so I would pick the WD.
Never made a build with CHC or CHD, mine is all armour and health instead of these. Even choose 17k extra health and no talent on a Holster instead of one with the 5% weapon damage talent and 15% CHC.
its not really an opinion though, its just mathOriginally Posted by scarpant96 Go to original post
I usually go with weapon damage and damage to elites. At the moment I have 25% extra weapon damage but to get that I had to drop 20% damage to elites which still leaves me with 48% damage to elites and the extra weapon damage helps with reds and purples. I completed the mission where I had to kill the Outcasts boss in the theater, The hardest mission I have completed for me so far, but the easiest boss by a long way. Weapon damage happens on every bullet as far as I am aware, crit damage only happens on percentage of crit hit chance. I use the high end G35 and with stability and accuracy modes it's a headshot laser machine.
