Two points:
It's hard to tell certain player colors apart when you're viewing ships at maximum range. In particular, red and magenta. The color chosen for Beryl (magenta) should be changed to be easily distinguishable from the pirate color.
We need to be able to change our player color if it turns out we've chosen poorly. I chose teal, which is hard to tell from Princess what's-her-face's blue.
It's a minor complaint, but I agree.
I played a map together with my friend and I happened to chose Magenta in that game.
Well, we had Anne Harlow with red flag color.
Most of the game play went like this:
Annoucement: Your ship is under attack!
Me: Here? Nope. Here??nope, that's my trade ship just sailin' (Min later) Oh this one here....
My friend and I could not differentiate the colors and it got super irritating that we ended up (I requested) to restart a game... <.<
At least make the colors obvious (instead of magenta, have like Orange?), or let us change color in middle of the game for accidents like this.
Aye, the above picture would be my color pool suggestion. If colors are close to another in hue, make them very different in brightness basically. So deep dark red vs pale bright magenta vs dark purple, dark blue vs light teal vs dark green. Perhaps it could help. Maybe the purple could be a bit more on the blue side, the same as it is in the game.
I always just click the notification if my ship is attacked or double click the red ship in the ship UI. I never actually search for it. But I do agree with this post. To add regarding colors, it’s impossible to see a radius’ circle in the water if you are playing as black.
