Far Cry 5 fps drops in outposts

    I will make this short.

I had multiple issues with far cry 5 and after multiple fixes i found in in various forums i am finally able to get it running the wayit should.

    What i did:
Disabled fullscreen optimizations for farcry5.exe .. fixed a lot of stuttering for me!
Disabled gsync ... was elementary! I think that because of the fixed setting for the refreshrate ingame these two settings got me into trouble.

So with my i7 4770k, gtx 1080, 16 gb ddr 3 1600 ram with vsync off, fps limit off and ultra settings on 2560x1440 i get 62-96 fps in the ingame benchmark.

Thats pretty close to the fps ill get ingame except some outposts

@ some point/enemy count in the outposts my fps go downhill very fast.
Some outposts cause more drops than others for some reason i cant find out.

I have heardof the cpu affinity change fix but iam not willing to mess with my registry ..yet.

All my d r ivers and windows 10 Pro are up to date.
I haveno issues in other games ..even far cry primal as direct predecessor runs flawlessly.

I am having major issues with both far cry 5 and new dawn.

I have pretty much tried everything except for turning off g sync so I am going to try this.
My issue apart from me being so fps sensitive is the up and down of the frames.

It goes from 80 to 85 to 60 to 65 etc and when I lock it to 60 it will go 60 to 45 to 50 to 60 etc.
This is much worse on new dawn but I find both games unplayable.

I noticed you said you turned g sync and v sync off..... do you not get tearing?

As for outposts, yeah its been a problem with quite a few games.

New Dawn is the worst for me.

There is a section in New dawn where you have to put all your weapons away in a box and have a boxing match in a big arena, god its so bad for me I have to turn it off.

I'm sorry I don't actually have any answers for you and I'm just venting but I have tried everything and your right outposts are the worst.

Ill try the g sync thing, fingers crossed

Oh And I'm running a 1080 TI so the performance should be better.

Hey buddy. Nice to hear from a fellow gamer with issues. tearing is not a problem for me because my monitor runs @ 144hz. Man i did so much its hard to figure out what helpedme stabilise the fps. But no matter what when more than 10 enemys (interrstingly friendly npcs dont cause this bug for me) are fighting me its going down to 42 fps lowest.

    Other things you could try
Set the cpu priority to high... just google it..its a bit tricky
Disable full screen optimizations for the farcry5.exe
Disable both overlays steam and uplay
    Start uplay in offline mode

What i didnt try is a driver rollback...

You said you had issues with outposts in other games? You mean other farcry games? I had no issues with fc primal.. not even with many npcs and outposts.

Also turning off gsync didnt help me with theoutposts. I think its a cpu or ram utilisation bug..

We are not alone with this problem though.. there are older steam forum entries (2018) with others havin this particular problem and unstable fps ..texture streaming problems and microstuttering while driving.

Its funny to read that some pcgaming magazines stated that this is the most optimized far cry game. Maybe iit was @ release.. maybe some windows10 updates or driverupdates are interfering or ubisoft themselves made things worse with their patches.

    Hello mate

Actually turning my g sync off sorted the problem out for me almost completely, so thanks for that.
I'm using a free sync monitor with Nvidia:s G sync and its still in its early period I think..
So its not perfect on some games.

I can only play at 60hz as all other refresh rates give me enough stutter to make it annoying 144hz included.
But I am very sensitive to fps drops so a solid 60 is better to me than a variable framerate and for me anything above 60 and the frames are all over the place.
60fps is perfect for me now.

I actually don't get any problems in outposts unless the on fire button gets pressed and a thousand explosions are going off but its very rare

Another major factor for me was turning the geometry and vegetation setting down from ultra to high.
Also I have changed in the Nvidia settings, changing max pre - rendered frames to 1 and setting power management from optimal power to max performance, although I'm a little sceptical that this actually has much of an effect if any.
Also the disabling full screen optimizations.

And now turning off g sync off …….. (thanks again)

I must admit apart from far cry 3 and 4 which run very very very bad on new hardware, all my other Ubisoft games run great.

Yeah Primal runs great I can play that with g sync on and usually get 80 to 120 frames but in comparison to far cry 5 there isn't half as much going on in terms of assets.

Now they just need to fix the falling through the map bug, the aim assist turning on when you restart the game and I think my weapons keep randomly changing as well, In new dawn anyway.

Lol I doubt they will patch the game again now though unless they bring out more dlc.

Hey cool that it was gsync for you as well. I was also using a freesync monitor with the newer nvidia drivers. I have one last suggestion for the outposts with much action. I am in faiths terretory now and conquered 3 outposts and helped that crazy guy with the flamethrower. I only got drops to 56 very veryshortly .. now it runs very stable at60 for me in almost every situation on high hdtextures on TAA in whqd.

Onlyl thing i did was running far cry 5 exe in win7 compatible mode alongside the other tweaks mentioned. Also ive turned off some ingame hints and stuff.
