I am new to this. I just bought 4 days ago on Xbox, as I could not find any info on the amount of people who play on PC vs XBOX in my region. I live in Australia so due to what I read on forums and websites I got it on Xbox. I always liked the game mechanics but never had any friends interested when released. I play a lot of souls games over the yeas and that is why I decided to get it on Xbox as it was 60% off for the full game with bonuses and season pass 3.
For a game with 20 million players now I trying to understand why games are impossible to get when it says that loads of people in that game mode. If this game region locked?
Even quick join games searched for over 35 mins until I cancelled or times out message.
I have played almost 75% of single player on hard first. I worked through about 50% of the training section and I been doing the daily that requires 0 gear level since I have no gear and can take for ever to get games.
This game could work better if people talk but I have a speaker icon and I checked settings and it is enabled. I can never hear anyone talking or show a mic. Does voice chat work?
Does anyone think that the new expansion in the next week help with players?
Is there anywhere that shows then player base across PC, PS4 & Xbox?
I am loving the game even though I am getting smashed when I do get a game.

Steam charts says that onine in steam is 5000-8000 players depending on times of the day, but also there is Uplay with more players, maybe 8000 too, then only on PC is around 15k players, on Xbox and PS4 it is of course bigger, maybe 20-25 on Xbox and 25-35 on PS4, but you live in Australia, I think it is the main problem.

Glad you've started getting into FH! Welcome aboard.
Voice chat is usually less active in the game for whatever reason (occasionally you'll see people who didn't even know it existed). We don't list the numbers publicly on any of our titles AFAIK. I think it's definitely possible that region could have an impact on your waiting times. Matchmaking expands geographical parameters gradually, but high ping games of FH aren't necessarily what you want either.
Which modes are you most interested in trying to play?

I only just got game so I really want to play all modes really to see what all modes are like and which one I like the most. But happy to play any really. I want to level up and get some better gear overall and playing real players is best way to learn the game.
Also I tried to get games Breach and domination I selected Player vs AI, but It would not launch with just me, It watied for 3 real players first Is that normal? I sat waiting for over 15 to 20 mins many times. I only play 3 nights a week and only play 2 hours and Sunday's for maybe 4 to 6 hours over the day and during those times so far only get 2 sometimes 3 games in that 2 hour windows and I end up playing more Sea of thieves or Gears on PC while waiting for a match on Xbox.
My internet is FFTN / VDSL2 My average speeds are 85 Mbps down and round 3 to 4 Mbps. Speed test is found 28 to 35 ping. I have even opened up ports on my router and Even put into DMZ. Normally NAT is open or Moderate.
If there a option to set the region like they did with gears 3 and 4? On our week nights I have to play on West coast due to player number to have a few matches ping maybe 100 or so but at least I can play and you get use to it.
Hoping the next season to boost population & I also bought 2 friends a copy that was on special on Xbox over weekend.

First of all, the truth is that no matter what numbers anyone tries to pull, this game's population is on heavy decline, and those realistically 5,000 players on a platform are split between all gamemodes, between PvP and PvE, between regions/continents and between their MMR. This severy thins your potential teammates/opponents and makes matchmaking wait times much longer. Now, add in the fact that you're from Australia, the continent with the by far least amount players and longest wait times, as complained by other AU players, and you've got a recipe for pain.
In order to play a match with AI only, you need to press the ''Parameters'' key before starting to que for a match and disabling human teammates. On PC the key is F1, for Xbox it should be displayed below the ''Play'' option.
You cannot change your region in this game. Maybe there is something you could do with a VPN, but that's just a guess on my part, and you'd still have massive amounts of latency anyway.
The next season will undoubtedly rise the population, if only temporarily. Hope it has a smooth launch.
