quick, simple question. which one give you higher dps? should i go for 15% headshot dmg or 5% weapon dmg for gear talents

Depends on the weapon damage of your current weapon, your head shot damage and damage to elite/armour.

I have found that 10% elite damage is > 5% weapon damage, but that is using a marksman rifle. But this means that the 300% or so head shot damage takes more of effect. Where on my mk17 the 5% does slightly more since its missing 180% headshots damage that the MR alone has.

You'll have to do testing depending on your current spec stat's and weapons.

I think the answer would lie with you, can you actually land consistent head shots or are you hitting shoulders/body most of the time? I personally would go WD, as that is mostly what I would be hitting and I end up killing a ton of mobs who are just poking their toes and knees out, not there heads. But if you are a crack shot and can put them down with a head shot, well then they won't get the chance to hide.

Demo you'd go straight damage and hs for lmg and crit and crit dmg for smg. Get that lmg hitting for 50k white and 200k hs, smg, wouldn't even bother with atm.

Depends on how good you are at shooting people in the head.

Personally, I feel 5% is too minimal for straight weapon damage vs some of the more interesting talents available. There are many ways to get minor boosts to damage, but some of the talents are quite unique and powerful for their purpose.

If you're a sniper, or just consistent with headshots, 15% is a solid enough number to consider. Although, while I'd be happy with it on a marksman build, 15% DTE would probably be a real contender for me, too.
