The new diamond medal is a great addition to trials for both the elite riders and those trying to push themselves that little bit further. The consistency is a bit messed up though with some not so difficult to achieve and some being way over challenged.
A more consistent way I think would be to receive them for a high rank on a track like if you were to get into the top 100. It would mean that they would have to be taken away from you if you fall below 100th so I'm not sure if this is possible but just seeing what others think of this idea?
I think the way it is now is perfect, in regards to medals anyways... I have one diamond. I played every trials game, I'm not great, but I'm not bad, most days. I haven't look lately, but most tracks only have a handful of people who got the diamond. Some have none. Your method would guarantee every track having a diamond player. I know I maybe won't get another diamond, and I'm fine with that. Trying to remain in top 100 on leaderboards is already a task for some I would think. Just because they're in the top 100.
I do like to go for platinum's, usually I can platinum maybe 60%-70% of tracks across all difficulties. My Hall of leaderboards is between 700 - 800.. I find myself checking it from time to time to see where I stand. I would rather get a piece of equipment if I made top 100 on any track.

I really dislike that idea. The top few hundred players already have the global leaderboard to race against. People who earned medals shouldn't have them taken away, barring an obvious game bug. If a diamond is near impossible on one track the devs should adjust that one. Someone posted a topic here some weeks ago showing the % of players with Diamonds on every track, and I think one track had 0 Diamonds awarded. Maybe it was the Windmill one?
i don't agree with this idea.
getting a diamond medal on any track is a huge feat already, and that goalpost will only get moved further as the game moves further into it's life cycle.
the idea of a diamond medal is that you get a run with a perfect route, airtime reduction, hop distance and if applicable quick climbing.
i am an avid trials fan, i'm pretty good too if i say so myself (plat on all tracks except for medieval flair and 3 extremes that i haven't grinded out yet, was 350 on the hall of leaderboards about a week ago, but i haven't played since), but the diamond medal requirement is already so steep for most tracks that i'm getting burned out and demotivated already, with 120+ hours in and a serious completionist drive. imagine grinding a track for hours, finally getting it diamond by barely beating the #100 time, and finding out that you have been taken over and your medal has been taken away. absolutely crushing, and would definitely be a reason to quit playing this game all together.
i think that the diamond medals should be tweaked a bit, because some require some really inconsistent/random routes, which i hate, and others are a lot easier, which also is against the idea of a diamond medal being an elite accomplishment.
while the discussion should be about a theoretical fair game, the reality is that there will always be hacked times on the leaderboards, and this will only increase as more exploits are found and support on this game inevitably gets reduced. looking at the fusion and evolution leaderboards, this will eventually make it impossible for anyone to get a diamond.
I feel a bit better knowing I’m not the only person who considers themselves a good player who hasn’t gotten the platinum on Medieval Flair. Other than that not counting skill games & ninjas, I’m only missing Red Steel and 5 extremes (including the 2 in the dlc)Originally Posted by SVD_NL Go to original post
