If you are new in game, you should use newcomers mode. If you just struggle to learn maps, use terrorist hunt.
Choosing map what you wish to play in casual or even ranked would be harmful for game and matchmaking - you would stuck in queu or forced to play map what majority wants

Sounds like you are learning the ropes and are fustrated. This game has a high skill ceiling, and map knowledge is a big part of that, and I understand with the large number of maps in the game learning them all is a daunting challange.

Honestly, you can go on terrorist hunt to learn them, but this does not teach you how the maps are played. It takes time to learn the best peaks and the best paths to objectives, and the only way to learn this is to observe other players.

It sucks to get killed round after round, but use the kill cam as a learning tool, where did your enemy come from, what angle was he holding, did you even drone or check that area?

That said, spawn peaking is an issue that is at least hotly debated on this forum, and I personally feel that spawn peaks and early run outs detract from the games style and enjoy ability, but it is something you are going to have to deal with, and again this is going to come down to experience, pre firing certain windows and avoiding certain spawns is the best solution...but it's not really a solution more of a neccessary evil.

All in all I would like to have a choice of 2 maps and a random map on ranked, it would add another dimension to the game, but I dont think it's going to happen anytime soon so take my advice and just accept your deaths and stay calm, it's the best way to learn.

You can choose which maps you want to play on, although it's not easy to figure out how. In the options menu, go to matchmaking preference section and choose which maps you want to play on.

It's true that the simplest things like choosing maps is criminally complicated in Siege, they should just let you pick maps right after you pick your game mode, like games used to do back in the good old days of Battlefront 2 (the old one, not this EA crap).

That old days was also filled with looking for servers what could be playable, with not an *** admin and with game mode+map what you wanted or at least tolerated. I mean MoH:AA was great and so community, but was kinda sick of V2 rocket map

We use to have a setting in matchmaking options where we could select what maps we wanted in PVP. The only problem was... it didn’t work... at all. Ubi removed this from the matchmaking options years ago and pretty much said that it will never return. Damn shame that – airplane is pretty much the only map I want to play most days, but you’re lucky if it comes up in rotation once a day.

I want working map preferences back in matchmaking options.

The Custom Matches is where it's at mate.

I learned how to shoot out ALL cams (that were available) from the outside of the buildings. Back then it was important..and I spent countless hours learning how to do it (I posted a vid as well).

The point is..when you learn how to deconstruct the maps it's easier to learn where your weak point are when attacking (and defending). Learn the maps!..custom matches allows you to take the time to do so. Learn them..but on your own time is what is boils down to.

Custom matches need players friends and that's hard to find. Casual is the right place

Then get a 'proper beat' in the maps during pvp and forget about my suggestion. But you can't deny the aspect of learning maps while nobody is actively shooting at you.

..or maybe you can..in which case you don't need any other mode than pvp.
