It is just too powerful atm. Every other guy i meet in the game is running Sharpshooter, most of the time not even having a rifle or a marksman rifle equipped.
those bonuses to headshot damage, stability and reload speed are just too powerful when they apply to ALL weapons. and it actually seems like lazy thinking when designing Sharpshooter spec. Either restrict those bonuses to Rifle and Marksman Rifle weapon classes, or give other classes more damage then sharpshooter has added to rifle to their "class weapon" types, to compensate.
One of my characters uses the Sharpshooter build. Ramirenzo is right - better solution is buff the other specializations.
If you think about the buffs for the Sharpshooter against the cons, it's pretty fair - you don't really get Sharpshooter ammo drops, so you barely use it and even though it supposed to be "armor penetrating" it still takes multiple shots to destroy armor. In fact, the Nemesis breaks armor better - if you can land a shot before it automatically discharges.
So basically, you don't sign up to use the Sharpshooter rifle, because you barely will want to if you can even find ammo for it. The buffs are all you get - not to mention that the Reload speed buff does not seem to work even though it's in my stats. Guns still take as long to reload. Best perks are the increase to stability and accuracy.
I wish people like you had a cure for that severe case of ADD where you can't read past the first two sentences.Originally Posted by Ramirenzo Go to original post
I mean, really the only useful part of the sharpshooter spec is the 30% stability and reload and flashbangs. I run LMGs and that's why I use it. That 30% lets you put better mods on the LMG to make it a viable damage dealer at more then 4 inches away. Sharpshooter armor "buff" is worthless I don't even have my last 3 points in it.. Drone type is worthless. Tac .50 is worthless. 93r is worthlss (even though it's my favorite gun of any game of all time.) Digital scope looks cool but is barely more than that. The ammo regen is not useful. I get what they were going for with it, but it just does not play out that way unless you have a pre-made 4 man team with specific roles that you all adhere to strictly.
I think the whole specialization system needs a rethink. I rarely use the signature weapons except as a novelty. This is probably not going to sound like a good idea because it's falling out of my *** as I type it right now.
First, get rid of the walls between specializations. Make them all part of one large skill tree that we can pick and choose from. Make the signature weapons only usable when you put enough points into one spec and change the grenade launcher to a classic vietnam era M79. It can fire way too fast as it is now. That brings each signature weapon a lot closer together in mechanics. Instead of the grenade launcher being able to decimate an entire elite patrol in WT5 before the corssbow or tac .50 can even make a second shot. Make the signature skills tied to the signature weapons. You only get mortar turret if you have the GL, Healy ball with corssbow, Worthless tell me what I already know drone with the tac .50.
"But that will just create super OP builds!!!"
I see it differently. Instead of having a small amount of META min-max builds like we have now, the possibilites become endless and you can truly customize your build to how YOU like it. In PvE it shouldn't matter who is using what build and how OP it is. If you don't want to play with OP builds, then don't, that simple.
"But what about PvP!?!??!"
I don't PvP in MMOs, like any MMOs, I suck at it and I don't like it. They already have the normalization system in place. I don't fully understand it but from what I read it's supposed to help eliminate some of the OP META crap from the first game. Well, maybe it can be taken a step farther. For PvP they can make the specializations separate as they are now or just turn them off completely. Along with all gear talents, set bonuses and brand bonuses. That would make it a pretty fair playing field I think. Maybe have to disable weapon mods as well to eliminate OP weapons and exotics.
Again, I'm not big on PvP so that may be the dumbest idea for PvP ever typed. However for PvE, I think there should be no limits on how you can customize your character loadouts. Please nobody freak out and tell me how stupid I and my ideas are. I'm just trying to steer the conversatiion beyond "I don't like this, nerf it now"
This is what I was talking about. You supposed to run demolitionist with LMGs. But Sharpshooter's bonuses are too good to pass up. So either a buff to other specializations, or a complete rework of this system, or a nerf to Sharpshooter.Originally Posted by JudgeLazar Go to original post
The thing is though, with demo you are essentially forced to stack stability on the LMGs and nothing else if you want to be remotely effective at reasonable distances. Which means that 15% damage boost is essentially doing nothing for you and the 5 second reload times means you get 1 belt and are forced to switch to SMG in any kind of heavy fighting and you have the most devastating signature weapon plus all the group buffs and overall damage buffs on explosives and all of the demo talents are useful. Where, in my case, I'm only really benefiting from three sharpshooter perks. So you're actually sacrificing a lot of buffs by doing it that way. I don't like the specializations very much at all, it forces you into specific meta builds which I hate in any MMO. I don't see how 2 buffs make the class OP when the other two classes are far more effective and leave a lot of room to do the exact same thing.Originally Posted by Nkond39 Go to original post
Yeah I wholeheartedly disagree. I run a pure marksmen build and even with those stability stats I find myself still lacking a significant amount of stability for scope shots. All of my weapons (rifle/sniper) have optimized in the second slot and then my kneepads run Braced. The increased stability, handling, accuracy is what allow me to make quick shots from cover on point before I get my *** mowed down by tanks or mini-guns. With out the additional mods it takes significantly longer to get to max accuracy and I take significantly more damage.Originally Posted by Nkond39 Go to original post
I don't see an issue with others running the specialization for their builds. They are making a compromise by taking top end damage off the top and putting it into accuracy to increase their average damage. It's a compromise. Just because you don't think they should be able to make that trade off doesn't make it an unviable option. So... in short. Let's put that suggestion in the trash bin and bury it under a nuclear waste disposal site for safe keeping.
Yet another one of those people who know the letters and are able to combine them into words, but can't grasp the meaning.
In that case what I suggested wouldn't affect your build in the slightest. If only you read my OP before quoting it... Oh well...Originally Posted by S55AMG03 Go to original post
