FC Devs - I wish the next Far Cry has as much story content as AC Origins

I had bought 2 AC games over the years and couldn't get past 5-10 hours of playing them.

I read a lot about a game before I buy. I didn't plan on getting any more AC games but when games go on sale for a good price I read up on them.
AC Origins and AC Odyssey are different than older AC games. Much more to my liking. I am 18 hours into AC Origins and if this style was put into a Far Cry game it would be fantastic!

In AC Origins there isn't a ton of grinding for garbage. Most of what you need comes from opening chests. You kill a small amount of animals when needed but no picking flowers and all of the time wasters. The leveling system is similar to Far Cry. The attention to story is so much better in Origins than Far Cry. Not just the main story. There are some good side quests. Even without the grind the game is huge and long. I am 20% complete and 18 hours in to this gem of a game. I would LOVE to have a Far Cry game with this amount of attention to story. One step further have a Far Cry game like Odyssey with story choices. I'm playing that next. Story and dialogue options and choices that affect the characters.
Either way, I'm having a blast playing AC Origins and I never liked AC games before this.

This is a Far Cry post! I suggest building a Far Cry game similar to the story and less grind of AC Origins. Add a variety of side missions. Not 10 side missions of clear out these animals that are attacking here etc. Side missions should be varied. It's much more enjoyable to do a variety of things in a game then the same 5 things over and over. imo

I played through them all starting with FC3. Far Cry games are my favorite Ubisoft games. Have you played AC Origins and Odyssey?

None of the FC games compare to Origins and Odyssey in the amount of story content and side mission variety. Like I said, it would be nice to have dialogue options as well as a bigger variety of side missions. Silent protagonist's also suck. Give them full dialogue and dialogue options. That's just my opinion, man!

Good opinion, BridgeToClarity! I also think story is important part of a game and don't understand people who promote "story in games as much importnat as in porn movies" ideology. Outdated phrase of 90-s thrown by Doom's developer. May be for Doom, yes, story is not important. It can be without story at all! But for big open world games - story and its content as important as gameplay itself. Assassin's Creed is next after Far Cry for me. And assassin's developers are faced with much more difficulties than the developers of Far Cry. They should reconstruct a certain historical period. Whole historical epoch! Its culture, clothes, weapons,buildings.....cities! They should make it trustworthy and immersive. Task is enormous! Only imagine how much people should work on this! How much historical literature should be read! Modern time is modern time, we live in this time and know everything about it, even in different countries - we can touch it....but letting us touch another time is a much harder task. And this is a good division and complement for Ubisoft : Past Time, hisoric, 3d person - Assassin's Creed and Modern Time, 1st person shooter - Far Cry. Games should maintain their individuality, their unique features without immitating each other. I don't want to see Assassin's Creed as past time Far Cry and Far Cry as modern time Assassin's Creed. All I want is Far Cry as Far Cry - excellent unique game, absorbed the best from the best games and most important, game that gave something new. Game - trendsetter!

I switched from lots of Bioware and other RPG's to Ubisoft's AC Origins/Odyssey.
As much as I love RPG's no let FarCry be FarCry. NewDawn has already moved too much to RPG mechanics that do not belong.

Please keep it a slick fast shooter first with a gritty gory story attached and fun gameplay less grinding for whatever component nature based or not.

20% in and you've not yet noticed that most gear pieces (bracers, breastplate, glove, etc) require over a dozen tiers of upgrading to max? It's MUCH more grindy than anything in a Far Cry game, and quite time consuming. It was also one of the main nit picks among those whom don't like grindy games.

That said, personally I enjoyed Origins very much, and even the grind of upgrading gear. Origins is very much a RPG game though, whereas Far Cry is just a first person shooter. They each have the norm of content for their genres, and I doubt bloating FC with tons of RPG features and grinding would go over well with FPS fans.

Unfortunately if you want a Ubi made RPG shooter, you have to go with The Division, and IMO it isn't a very good one. It has great level design and an acceptable (albeit not very original) story, but they really dropped the ball on the crazy upgrade system, which involves collecting like gear pieces and laboring over maxing them and swapping out (rolling) their talents and bonuses. Worse yet, they tied getting best gear and weapons to twice monthly Global Events, where multipliers can drastically increase the rewards you get, but when TD2 came out, they stopped having them.

TD1 was enough of a grind even WITH GEs, but now it's nearly pointless to play on World Tier 4 or 5 without them. I'd rather not spend my whole life grinding through one poorly designed game.

Interesting thread and topic, for sure. Out of curiosity - what are the smaller, more minute-to-minute gameplay experiences that you like having within Far Cry? There's been talk in here about larger high-concept things you enjoy, but I always find the minutia to be just as important when it comes to understanding what we like about games.
