    gamepad

i never used a gamepad to play any shooter game, but just before server down i've tried my new gamepad and i just found out when i push aim the crosshair SUCKED onto a fast moving target's head and tracked him for a quite long distance
now this is way too much, all i have to do is to move crosshair somewhere near the target and it automaticaly lock on target's head, and by 'somewhere' it's actually a quite big area on the screen
but when i use k&m i clearly felt it has some weird delay, combined with weapon recoil i can never have enough precision on a running target. i never experienced this in other shooter games like CSGO or ARMA3 or GRW
and i tried those games with my gamepad too but it doesn't felt that way, especially ARMA3 i can barely aim at a moving target with gamepad
i can still remember in the good old times, WCG and CPL, we've trained for for a month together just for aimming practice but whoa this is... i can never understand game industry

Good ole aim assist for handicap gamepad users to help them hit anything.. Pretty much the standard and in every shooter these days..ximapex tricks the unit into thinking u are using a gamepad even while u are using a mouse and key... I don't blame folks that do it if companies are going to put aim assist for controllers on a pc game where one should be using a mouse and key then shame on them..

Indeed ... and maybe all wheelchair ramps everywhere should be removed ... make them crawl up the stairs with their wheelchairs strapped to their backs ... shame on any company that does not focus on the abled ... those disabled people should stay at home, locked in a cellar so they do not burdon or get in the way of the abled. Shame on them.

Did you know the average age of the gamer now is 35 - 45? The majority playerbase here in The Division franchise are late 30's - 50's ... numerous players here in these forums that admitted to being in their late 60's ... gaming is no longer a 'Kids Domain' ... most of us started gaming 20+ years ago ... my first mmo was Star Wars Galaxies (pre CU), I watched the launch of Guild Wars and was an early subscriber to City of Heroes … World of Warcraft had yet to launch and change the whole landscape … there are players here that started a decade or more before I did …

My brother loves The Division and loves The Division 2 with a passion … yet he has severe arthritis in his hands … we duo'd for a week over easter up to WT3 on ps4 … he has trouble soloing fights because his hands do not let him have the quick responses I enjoy … the mobs move around far too quickly for his hands to respond … he dies often, because he's not quick enough to double-tap out of the way … we played maybe 18 hours a day despite the agony he was in from his hands …

Yeah … shame on Ubisoft for allowing him to play a game he loves so much …

Having an opinion on something pulled out of context is what wars are made of.

Try playing with a controller for an extended period of time before going back to mouse and keyboard. If you still feel that controllers on average are superior, then there is an issue with the game.

I would say that constitutes as using a 3rd party tool to gain a competitive advantage. Which is against most games' policies. And you would risk getting your account banned.

PC Gaming isn't about mouse and keyboard. It's about options. Using a mouse is not comfortable for me in this game, so I use a controller. Other games I use a mouse and keyboard, or a steering wheel and pedals, or even a HOTAS. Just because YOU don't like one of the options, doesn't mean its "wrong". There is no wrong way on a pc, only many ways.

Aim assist can be turned off in the menu.

Aiming on PC tho is a cakewalk with a mouse.
If you are on PC you shouldn't even complain about the difficulty of this game. lol

Don't have a go at the entitled, mindless human beings who only think of themelves. The world is far to PC for that kind of thing. I remember I started gaming before the internet even was a thing.

    in no particular order:

    Atari 2600
    Vectrex
    Spectrum 128k +2 and 128k+ 2A
    Sega Mega Drive
    Donkey Hong handheld game.
    Sega Game gear
    Snoopy Handheld Game
    Sega Master System 2

    Also these 2 gems:

I use a controller and would be chuffed to think someone, somewhere, took issue with it.

Please be p*ssed about it... you'd make my day.

I don’t feel I'm gaining any advantage at all but don’t use a sniper rifle so wouldn’t know if there’s any aim assist going on.

It’s a fluid motion moving from one target to the next or from cover to taking aim.

Never noticed anything automatically going on.

Tried keyboard and mouse for years but my brain simply isn’t programed that way and will not accept it.

If that makes me less of something well, I’ll just have to toss and turn at night about that.

you've lost me with those highlighed texts but maybe i lost you first? 'cause i'm saying i'm experiencing the weird delay in this game with mouse, and i never tried using a controller to play shooter games until today, i don't see any context issue?
sorry i speak strange english maybe that's why? i'm still learning it
or you mean i shouldn't talk about the mouse delay issue, make people confused? well my bad if so

i really didn't expecting people going on war here i just wanted to share my feeling about the game industry went on a weird direction, where they lowered the bar and make everyone comfortable with any equipment they use, you don't need to practice those wet details anymore, just pick up and fight. and mouse isn't dominating anymore now it's 50/50 fair game, which is also strange people trying so hard to make controllers step on the starting point of shooter game standard equipment, after been through shooter games on nintendo 64 and playstation they came out this aim assist idea and even went on pc shooter games

now i'm not saying controllers are superior because in my opinion no matter how good you are, no matter how confortable your controllers are, controllers are still have some physical limites in shooter games, what i'm saying is after tried using controller in few games i can feel in this game it has a larger lock on range compared to other games. well, now i mean one game actually, ghost recon wildlands. because after more trying i realized it wasn't the aim assist that helped me out in CSGO and ARMA3, it was the gyroscope module. but in GRW you still have to precisely aim on target and then you can get some sort of assist, you need give it sometime until the crosshair gets there. but in the division it only requires you point at a fuzzy spot and press aim, it automatically locks onto target during the zoom motion, the motion is as fluid as zafford described, and it has way larger lock on range compared to GRW.

i don't hate it at all but then again i felt a little... 'whaaaat lol' kind of emotion, y'know games that requires shooting skills are really strange these days, like fornite, overwatch and so on. you have to shoot people, it's your main method, but then again the shooting part doesn't requiring a hardcore full week clan internal training with a poster put outside the door 'target practice / non clan member wave off' to master it. when i was a little boy playing 007 golden eye i didn't expect this coming, all i can remember is controllers in shooter games sucks. but now? ******* am i a kid.
