All the mercenary LT's that I knocked out and recruited and then use Call to Arms ability to summon get defeated after taking one hit. Here's a video of one of my merc LT getting hit by an arrow right away and defeated- she starts kneeling for a short while then gets up and start running away. Same goes to all the merc LTs I use Call to Arms on, they go down after taking only one hit, though when boarding ships they can take much more hits. I don't know if the same applies to non-merc LTs too, I only use merc for LT (and legendary ones only) when I'm not using the Helix LTs (those last much longer in Call to Arms). For the record I am on Xbox One and it is NG+.

I have Assassin's Creed Odyssey for Xbox One, and I too have always had this same problem. I just tested again to see if it's been fixed, and it hasn't. I recruited a mercenary that I defeated, I called him into the next battle, and he dropped in one hit. I'm guessing this is just the way the game is, and despite that it's an obvious bug, it'll never be fixed, cuz that's what we can expect from today's games. Despite having the ability to update games and fix bugs, it just does not work out that way.
