My opinion on Kapkan (and similar defenders)

    My dear brothers and sisters,

I am writing this post in hope that someone from Ubisoft will read it and see it as a bit of a useful advice on how to handle defenders properly.

I have started playing R6 Siege by the time Nomad and Kaid were introduced (I can't remember the name of the operation, sorry). So I know many things changed before and after that. But just about that time, I remember wanting to play as a Spetsnaz.

It's worth mentioning that I mostly play Terrorist Hunt. I love co-op and solo play, and spend very little time in PvP. So just to make it clear, I do not know if what I am about to say makes sense in multiplayer.

Anyway, Kapkan seemed awesome to me. I immediately loved the idea od placing traps and ambushing the bad guys.

But to my surprise, every time I'd check my stats, I would see that I haven't performed any kills with my EDDs. It was not obvious at first, but my traps didn't seem to do any damage. They didn't even seem to even slow the enemies down. It was like my explosive traps were filled with confetti instead of shrapnel.

So what's the point of having these traps if they can't even kill or incapacitate one single bad guy? If I have to shoot him after he triggers my trap, then my character is useless. It sadly made me give up on this potentially awesome operator.

Fast forward to the latest patch, after I unlocked Frost. I have been playing Terrorist Hunt a lot and I had huge amounts of fun with her traps and barb wire. Her traps saved my team quite a few times by taking care of a bomber or a soldier that got a bit too close to a hostage. I had as much fun as I thought I would have with Kapkan.

That's what these trap laying defenders should be about. Tricks and ambushes. And, if need be, the last line of defense against White Masks who somehow make it through hail of Rainbow bullets.

My most satisfying moment in game was seeing a bomber walk into my Welcoming Mat, when I was defending the hostage as Frost. The bomber got through, there was only me and one of my fellow operators on his way. My buddy was doing a fighting retreat, but I just stood there, watching, knowing full well he was walking into my trap. He stepper on it no more then 10 meters from our hostage and died. And I was like

"Deal with it!" *puts on sunglasses*

This is what playing with operators like Kapkan or Frost should be like, at least in a Terrorist Hunt mode.

With Kapkan, I wanted to plant my traps in strategic places and look at the bad guys getting torn to bite sized chunks when they attempt to breach and clear the room I am hiding in. I wanted to ambush them and laugh at how careless they are. Again, I am not talking about PvP here. For me, shooting terrorists is the meat of R6.

I haven't tried Kapkan since then, so maybe his traps got buffed again with the latest patch, I don't know. But please do not nerf characters like him! It simply makes him USELESS. And nobody likes useless operators.

ok you have clearly been playing very little as 1 siege is multiplayer first t-hunt never exept for fun and 2 kapkan had 1 hit kill traps at the start, but they were useless as they could be seen from a mile away as they were very easy to spot. kapkan is in a good place for multiplayer pvp and as sutch will not be changed, as no one in the dev team cares for t-hunt. its a side mode to pvp and will stay that way for the rest of sieges life.
