And the Mk 14 moved to the assault rifle category where it should be.Originally Posted by the5timechamp Go to original post
I usually use the stampede as my secondary in the main campaign (got it from a crate). Mostly for the purpose of destroying helicopters, because it's kinda versatile and cool looking at the same time.
Usually though, I play ghost mode with a shotgun/pistol- so it's pretty rare to see me use any sniper rifle at all in Wildlands. That being said, as a sucker for specialty weapons like shotguns, I tend to be a pretty monstrous sniper if you can coerce me into using one. Truth be told, I think games like the early CoDs kinda drove me away from the entire weapon with quick-scoping and crap like that. I kinda despise snipers as a rule of thumb in any game, but I think that's pretty natural for a shotgunner.
G28 + G28 scope (or the T5whatever scope). The combination of damage, penetration, and speed of follow up shots, and I like the dual reticle of the G28 scope.
I put in a fair bit of designated marksman time for an agency I used to work for many years ago. The rifle was a bone stock Remington 700 BDL with a Weaver K4 (fixed 4X) scope; chambered in 30.06 (7.62 x 63mm). Good gun and scope for the relatively short ranges I encountered at that site, though I definitely prefer semi autos.
The project/s I worked on in The Stan; issued Barret M82s for the DMs with a scope of unknown (to me) type. Those bleepers were REALLY LOUD when they went off!
We sometimes "hosted" shooters (snipers or DMs--take your pick) from coalition partners after dark. Early one AM (0200-0300 hrs) I encountered two of them (shooter/spotter team) as they were preparing to use one of our elevated observation/shooting platforms. They invited me to observe; the weapon was an Accuracy International rifle in .338 LM. About a half hour in--we observed (half moon + starlight--we were all using image intensification devices aka "night vision") two males leave a small village about a 1/4 mile (400m) from our perimeter; carrying what appeared to be a home made firing tripod and small rocket of some sort (likely an Iranian or Chinese 107mm--could have been left over Soviet too). They went out into the desert a fair ways, set up the tripod, and were laying the rocket in place; when our "guest" shooter engaged them. The spotter called the range at 814m from us; the shooter dropped both of them with a single shot each in 3 seconds or less. When the first guy collapsed to the ground; his partner just turned and looked down at him. It was the last mistake he ever made.
The last project I worked on in The Sandbox; our DMs all used M110/SR25s in 7.62 x 51 NATO. The client agency we were contracted to, had VERY restrictive rules of engagement; none of our DMs were ever able to "return fire" during the time I was there; despite numerous instances of taking direct small arms fire.![]()
that is correct most enemies disappear at 700 m or so , the only thing you can see at that distance is your friend marker and you have to aim super high in order to hit the target at that distance, and you friend have to guide you, to the right, left, too high too low etcOriginally Posted by Ghost416 Go to original post
i use Sniper rifle since we have a role play in the team, otherwise, as you mentioned before are unnecessaryOriginally Posted by VirtualRain. Go to original post
My longest kill in this game is from 919 meters and I didn't even use a sniper rifle. I was doing the El Pulpo mission where I had to protect him until he reached the airport and i used the small helicopter with the Gatling Guns. After I escorted him to the airport I randomly shot at marked enemies that were very far behind and I killed one. Lucky shot lol.Originally Posted by Ghost416 Go to original post
My longest kill with a sniper rifle is 479m.
Good attitude, I applaud that. Especially as a shotgunner myself.Originally Posted by GAP_Computer Go to original post
It honestly kind of bothers me that a lot of weapons are so ridiculously versatile in Wildlands, like almost every enemy in the game, however heavy, dying instantly from a silenced pistol body-shot while unalerted. I use handguns A LOT with a shotgun, but even I admit they're really not so versatile as to like... snipe snipers silenced, lol. At the same time though? I guess it kind of makes your playstyle more preference than necessity. I dunno, just doesn't strike me as "hardcore" enough in a squad-based shooter. Roles are what make squads great.
