World Tier 5 gear score drops

Been on WT 5 for a while now, at GS 452 and all I ever get are items in the 440- 455 range. I have 1 462 item.

    What am I doing wrong?

I read somewhere that the higher your GS the beter drops you get. But without good talents and attributes most items are not a upgrade even if they have a (marginal) higher gearscore.

Oh, and the gear set's are they all that bad?

Not very rewarding to do CP 3's and missions or anything at all without getting any worthwhile upgrades.

Yes the drops are not as good as the past world tiers. First thing you should do tho is go to all the venders in the world, 1 and each settlement and the dark zone vendors. They will sell you gear 470+ to help you start out.

You may need to "bump start" better gear. Use the recalibration station to move a higher crit chance or damage from one piece to another. This actually works with many stats, but crit seems easiest. You will see on the station how it will raise the gear score of the item you are transferring it to. Do this for a few pieces to get them in the 490+ region and you will start noticing better drops and get the FP Caches that drop 500 gear. My wife and I did this and in no time we were swimming in 500 gear, don't focus on a particular build during this period, just recalibrate and wear whatever the highest gear score you can create is.

    Ways to get higher gear.
    1. Your field cache boxes will give you better gear than you currently have.
    2. Do missions as the bosses will give you higher loot.
    3. Recalibrate a stat, not a talent, on existing gear. You can push up as much as 15 points.
    4. CP 3/4 runs. If you can manage it. (start on 3)

I kept the highest GS item for each slot and every time before I opened a cache box, I put it on to elevate my GS. Someone told me later that it was enough to have those items in your inventory, but I can not confirm that.

I did that as well and heard the same, but it seemed to work better when I actually wore my highest gear, then drops from mobs were also higher, not just boxes.

    Thanks for all the responses!

I noticed an improvement in drops (at least as far as gearscore goes) already when I keep the highest gear level items in my backback.
Recalibrating a stat also increases the GS a lot!

Weird though that just because an item has a higher GS though with worse attributes and/or talents you need to keep it to get better drops eventually.

At first I thought it was a mechanic to keep you from going from 450 to 500 very fast and that you had to grind CP 3 and Hard missions, but after doing that for a week I got no improvements...

YouTube Orange box locations. When you get an item higher than your current, equip it then put your normal gear back on.

The game saves the item level per slot, even if you aren't wearing it. So 450 mask, you get 465, equip it, put the 450 back on, that slot is now 465.

Watch that YouTube video, follow it, I just equipped everything anyway, went from 456 TO 488 In 45 minutes.
