The Division 1... Drop rates and events.

Dear Ubisoft, if you wanna convert division 1 players into division 2, why do you keep it so grindy?

Last month the game was sold very cheap, and people that are in the game now they are discovering how hard it is to get the parts you want.

Come on, there are people waiting got 3 months for a drop and it never come. Why do you keep the classified equiment so rare?

Please be more generous, or the guys who spent a couple dollars just to know how the division 1 is, they wont feel much compelled to buy the second,. once they realize they will have to go through a lot of grind just to get 1 single piece.

Please be more generous, raise the drop rate and RESTART the last global event.

    Very Sad

I bought it in the last sale, I loved the game, but it's very complicated to get end game items. If only they would come back with the global events and add a rotation for those events to happen, it would be wonderful. They're forcing people to migrate to the second game and the way they're trying to do it is the wrong one of all. Many people still like and are satisfied with The Division 1. I do not even want to migrate, it's only been 1 month since I bought the D1. I hope they come back with the global events and do not let the game die completely. I'm sure it's easy for them to leave events on a weekly or monthly rotation. It would give new airs to the game and the novices could make the contents of the events, releasing masks and gear up.

The annoying thing is that the technology is already there. In honor of the game's 2 year anniversary they activated a different global event every week for a month straight. They should always have a global event active at this point in the game's lifecycle.

I bought this game on last february. I like the gameplay but I wish to optimize my gear and build confidential sets but it's boring making the same missions ever and ever to get some Dtech. Ubi starts to nerf, update after update and now this almost impossible to get a good gear. I play with a friend and we have no chances to play legendaries or heroic with a normal or low incomplete confidential build. No way playing a year the same missions to get some dtech. Maybe I will go eventually to Division 2 but if D2 goes in the same direction I must think twice. Looks like in the begining all the players get all faster but then ubi launch a update and nerf all thing. It's boring... Ubi open the drops for better.

I guess everyone's definition of 'grindy' is different, but as a day one player of TD1, I will say the drop rates are the highest they have ever been. I think it was with the release of 1.8 they increased the exotic/classy drop rate to 6% IIRC. I believe that doubled the previous setting, which even that, at 3%, was higher than at release.

I will say that I bought a second copy of the game back in late January or Febuary. I got it just before the last GE came out. Anyway, I completed the Marshal SHIELD earlier this month which is the one to collect all exotics in the game. I also have 5 full classified gear sets (though not the ones I really want).

Actually, I COULD have all the SHIELD's done at this point except for Talon (3000 commendation points). I say could because I haven't done anything in the DZ which is keeping me from getting Avenger and Hazard.

Now, I do certainly agree they need to get back into the Global Event monthly cycle. It has been for sure 2 months plus now... It used to be almost like clock work. I don't like that they do them haphazardly when they do them at all.

If the previous drop was 0.5, and now 4%, that would be an increase of 400%, but still not enough when you deal with the time spent on gaming / gear parts earned. 6% might be the highest, but it´s 6 ONLY... it´s just not enough for somebody to keep playing and actually understand that the efforts matter.

So after having extremely lucky to be on the 6% after 25~30 mins (legendary mission), gotta be lucky enough on 1/6 to get the specific gear part, and lucky enough to the build class you need on another 1/9 draw.

In these 2 past weeks i played a lot and got almost no classifieds, and the ones i got wasnt what i wanted... in the end im doing the same missions over and over, becoming more and more tedious, and i quite frustrated with this... 2 weeks for what? My d3 build isnt enough to fight on darkzone, and what i can do?

Ill play sekiro instead... when they start another global event ill invest my time again.

Even the shields are distorted... 3 thousand points for talon, 5 hours on survival? COME ON... whats the reward? A meaningless painting and a tamagotchi on division 2. You spend HOURS grinding, i believe more than 10 hours, and compared to a real world job, 5 hours would get you money to buy any dlc, of course considering the rewards as DLC.

And in the end, people play division 1 to get classified parts and the house. If ubisoft were MORE GENEROUS on RNG, people would notive they dont have much more to do on division 1, and then they could consider buying division 2 much quicker than they are now, in this eternal grinding state. Why keep people on div 1 grinding for parts that wont ever come???

Come one Ubisoft, give us a more generous RNG and people will naturally feel they did everything and it´ll be time to move on to div2. Simple as that.

I thought the classified drop was 3% from bosses, 1% from caches (exception: 10% for survival caches), 20% for completing a legendary mission. Exotics are 1% from bosses & caches. I would definitely play another game until the next (if it ever happens) GE. You will likely get burned out farming with the low odds of success.

I think those were the numbers prior to 1.8 update. I am fairly sure (but admittedly not positive) that they are now 6% from bosses (including LZ bosses) for classy and 3% IIRC for exotics.

I know it can be frustrating to try to finish up a set you have been wanting to play but aside from the extended lack of GE's, this is the best time to play the game. While there are still bugs, they are fewer than ever before. Now, you can go straight to WT5 so you don't grind for WT4 gear which was the cap, only to have it all change then you have to start all over again. That, plus the highest drop rates the game has had, and more balanced enemies it is a much better game. I think it was up to 1.3 where the shotgun rushers could literally down you from a block away. Apparently they forgot to put range stats on that one NPC.

If you have a friend to game with, run the LZ bosses together and discuss what pieces you each need. On my main account, I'll drop any classy/exotic gear that drops to the group because I don't need anything. I have been mostly playing Survival, but usually do at least one LZ boss run a day and do daily crafting and combat on each account and character for the Div Tech. If you want to tag along add me, I usually play ~6 or 7pm CDT weekdays, and however long I can on the weekends. I really do feel the LZ boss run is the easiest way to gear up (and work on commendation stuff while you are at it), followed by the Resistance wave ~10 thing. I find Resistance boring AF though personally. I have ran it a lot to show/help people learn the easy farm method

With the OP's follow up comment, I agree quite a bit with the SHIELD's. The order, and relative difficulty just didn't seem to have logical thought behind them. I made a fairly lengthy thread with my thoughts on it and why: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...ould-have-been

I have had all 12 SHIELD's on my main account ever since the day the last one dropped. Some of the commendation points can be obtained just by looking at what they are. Some only require slight alterations to your game play. Ones like Doorman for instance. I already use cars for cover, so it just became a matter of moving along a car with open doors. You can get the PvP 'crispy' by having another player stand in front of and then shoot the red gas pipes while running Warrengate. Note though that there are a few that don't add up across your characters. The Destructive Appetite is one of them. It is kill enemies while using a consumable. I had more than double enough on my main account but due to that, I didn't get it. I ultimately turned down the WT level, and ran Russian Consulate on hard (for higher enemy density). I'd run it until I ran completely out of consumables (all of them count, water, food, bullets, etc) then go do the UG or LZ boss run and restock.
You can also get some SHIELD's with a little creativity. For instance, the Chieftan one, it doesn't require a SINGLE gear set to be 291. Since I didn't have a complete set on my 2nd account, I found the different classified pieces I had and good weapons and just rolled up one of each slot. That 500 Div Tech goes a long way... Honestly, the rewards for TD2 are paltry, I found SHIELD's to benefit TD1 more.

@Canned_player, though I love the D3 build, particularly the 6 piece, they nerfed it into the ground in PvP. I can keep my shield up the duration of almost all challenging missions and occasionally even legendary missions, but in PvP, it is gone literally in a second or two. It doesn't help that they made the stupid decision that Strikers build stacks by hitting the shield. I mean, who can miss that thing? It does work great for clearing the PvE portions of the dark zone. One suggestion when you get your 6 piece, with the exception of Legendary missions, use the melee. Learn it, time it, and use it. Meaning due to its 2000% (iirc) melee damage, it is actually effective to use. Time it because when an enemy is close and you need to reload, no sense in letting them stand there shooting you the whole time. Melee them and the stagger will stop it for most of the time it will take you to reload. It also is very effective against the melee rushers.

One last thought on drop rates. Will you keep playing once you have all the gear you seek? I have played probably 1k hours since I finished up mine where I have all 14 classy gear sets on all 4 characters on my main account. 3 of those characters are now all optimized to 291 on all 14.

if you played this game for a while a couple of things are pretty obvious.
1.) they increased drop rates but nerfed t he quality of them.
Used to be bosses dropped classifieds and occasionally exotics but mostly green gear at the least.
now they drop yellow gear or weapon mods -junk mostly and now random reds can drop green gear.

2.)the servers seem to be getting worse with daily deltas and weird lag spikes

3.)getting rid of the mark 2-4 caches for a dwindling player base for no reason other than to hopefully make a buck here or there charging players $10 for an emote -meanwhile we sit with over 100 worthless keys that could be u sed to encourage acquiring them.

4.) shutting off global events because division 1 playerbase doesn't matter see 1-3

I mean it's obvious that D2 is the cash cow right now so D1 doesn't matter just like they will abandon D2 for their next big thing
it won't change anything by complaining, t he people in control don't play these games so just accept it or move on would be my advice because it's clear where it's headed

    I'm a day one TD1 player. So I guess I qualify as a long-term player.

    1. Don't agree at all. Like I said above, I have 2 accounts. One is 3 years+ old and literally has every classified gear set on all 4 characters. The 2nd account I bought right before the last GE. I think that was late February. On it, in not that many hours, as of last night, I now have 6 completed classified sets on my main characters and a lot of left-over stuff for 2 other characters. All the rest of the remaining gear sets on main character is only lacking one piece except Banshee needs 2 (I'll keep it but I never play PvP so won't use it). I also completed the Marshal SHIELD that requires all the Exotics in this relatively quick time. I'd probably be a lot further along with the gear sets but I have been playing mostly Survival after a boss run, and daily crafting and combat for the Div Tech.
As I have suggested to everyone that is trying to gear up, when you first log in each day. Do a quick LZ boss run. Depending on how long you play, do it again before you log off (4 hour cool down between runs). If you have multiple characters, you can run it on each as they each have their own cool downs. You will average more than one classy/exotic per run. One single time, I have gotten 5 exotics and 2 classy's from a single run but that has only been once. I think there have been a time or two where I got nothing (in over 2175 hours on one account https://td1.divisiontracker.com/prof...ambihunter1971, and now ~165 hours on the new one https://td1.divisiontracker.com/prof.../bambihunter71).

    2. Again, 2 accounts. I sometimes do activities with both logged on at the same time. I used to blame the game for a lot of errors/issues. But, when I have them both side by side running and one crashes to desktop and the other one literally never has, I have to wonder. Now, this is not to say it is perfect because this is the only game that crashes on the system that it does crash on and it is a new very high end system.

    3. The new cache system does help to get those clothing items completed as it is much more efficient for that but I completely agree that removing the emotes wasn't good and looks like a cash grab (pun on cache totally intended).

    4. I can't disagree at all with that. We are well over 2 months now; the longest gap in the 2 year GE history that I can remember. I am in I.T. (Sys Admin) and manage servers for a living. I cannot imagine there being a whole lot to re-introducing the GE's. One would think they are just variations on the game code they can stop/start at will or at least load the data image for it. I mean they have all ran several cycles, so it isn't like they are programming new ones.

Some of us bought TD2, and have returned to TD1 for various reasons. For some, it is the prefer the play style. For others, they got annoyed by the weekly digress (every patch seems to make things worse). I think we all have consigned ourselves to the realization that no new improvements/changes will be made to TD1, but they have stated publicly countless times that TD1 will continue well after the release of TD2 and when asked specifically about the GE's the answers were the same. I don't know why they don't just release them on a monthly schedule like the 2nd week of the month and they rotate in the order they were initially released in.
