I am a single player. I do not like multiplayer. I have zero interest of playing with other people.
Up until now, The Division was playable as a single player game, challenging, but playable as long as you leveled up a few levels above the enemies in whatever area you were playing in. Fine. Then I hit level 30, and the game suddenly decided to put me into World Tier 1. I did not put myself into that, I was fine staying at tier zero. I had no interest in making the game harder. But now suddenly I’m at tier 1 and all the enemies are level 30 and all of them are bullet sponges that can practically 1 shot kill me. I cannot even make it through a random encounter now, let alone finish the game. The game is now completely unplayable unless I grind for weeks on end trying to get enough in game credits to buy gold gear. I will not do that. That is not fun. I play this game to have fun, and to me grinding is not fun, it is annoying. For me, the game is now totally unplayable, and I am about to rage quit.
The only reason I can think of why this system was implemented is to try to force you to play with a group, or spend real money on gear. It has ruined the game.
I. Do. Not. Want. To. Play. With. A. Group. I hate multiplayer only games and that is what this World tier system has made this.
I did not choose to go to World Tier 1. I was at zero, was done for the night, turned off the game, and when I came back, I was suddenly tier 1 and the game was unplayable.
How do I turn this ******ed thing off? I do not want to be tier 1, and I will destroy the game before I start over just because of a glitch.
While I’m on the subject, why does Ubisoft insist on having leveling enemies in the first place? It makes the whole leveling system pointless, if you level up and the enemies are always within 5 levels of you, what is the point in leveling beyond level 5? And how in the hell can 2 guns, which are identical in every way, have vastly different stats? Guns do not work that way, so why do they in the game? And how is it that I can shoot someone in the head 30 times and have them not even slow down? Ever hear of realism?
The world tier system is nothing else but more levels beyond 30. When you kill enemies that drop gear or weapons pick them up and use them. Make sure you always have the highest number of gear score possible on all items, this makes the game much easier to play. Spending credits on gear is not really needed, most of the times you will find a similar one that you just bought. And no you do not need to be in a group. The game is perfectly playable solo unless you want to do legendary, heroic, or incursion missions.
In the end you will find that with gear at 280+ the game is easy to play and you kill most of the enemies with only few shots. If you do not want to level up in world tiers when it happens automatically, simply open the map and switch to lowest tier 1.
I do not want to be at level 1, I never switched to level 1. I was at level 0 (enemies at 25), but when the game reloaded I was tier 1. Now the game is unplayable. My gear is all at around level 60 at best, I do not go in the dark zone, and wont, so that is the best the game will randomly spawn. I have no legendary stuff and the enemies are all to bullet spongy and over powered now to collect better gear, I cannot even make it through a random encounter now. I do not like grindy games. That is not enjoyable to me, it is work. The game was working just fine before this ******ed world tier stuff. If I cannot go back to tier 0 this game is trash.
The only way to get better gear other than a one-off drop here or there, is to fight tough enemies. Once you get your gear up, they'll be easy again. I hate getting killed a lot, it is not fun. That said, I can't imagine any fun in fighting enemies 5 levels below me either.
Since this is posted in TD1 forum, I'll use it as an example. I have one account where all 4 characters have literally every gear set and 3 of the 4 characters have all 14 classy gear sets fully optimized to 291. Everything up to challenging is quite easy and I have to screw up to go down. But, I recently bought a 2nd copy of the game and have now got several end-game characters going in that account but the difference between the two (even with the same gear score) is night and day. The difference between having matched gear sets, min/maxed items, etc.
I didn't know the game would auto-advance world levels, but at least it isn't like the Far Cry series where it literally auto-completes missions for you basically skipping past some missions that you never get a chance to play.
That’s the problem, this stupid system has me so outmatched now I can barely take down normal enemies, let alone high level. I like having enemies 5 levels below because given the lousy gear drops, all the enemies bullet sponge unless I’m about that far ahead of them. I’m seriously about to write this game off unless I can get rid of this stupid tier. It is not fun like this and really unplayable and there is no way to finish the game. I do not want to spend weeks grinding for better gear just to make the game playable again.
I can agree that the game makes you grind to get adequate gear/weapons, but if you've already reached level 30 and only have 60 rated gear, clearly you have not been anywhere near diligent enough at scavenging and swapping out your gear/weapons. You WILL need some credits later on, but most spend it on recalibrating vs buying weapons, as vendors charge way too much for mediocre stuff you can find just looting enemies killed.
I am new to the game too, and have yet to build a gear set, sell or buy anything, or craft anything, or recalibrate anything, yet I've beaten the campaign on Normal mode, and have so far after a few days of daily challenge missions beaten every one on Hard and Challenging it throws at me. I am currently playing on World Tier 4 with a gear rating of 267. I've got about 100 hours in the game and have about 275,000 credits.
My main complaints at this point are...
1. You're most effective with a full like themed gear set. Nomad is recommended a lot for solo play because it gives you good self healing capability. The problem though is it can take a while to collect a full set, and once you do, it will no doubt have pieces of varied ratings. This means having to spend a fair amount of credits and resources to recalibrate the gear. This as far as I know, is called min/maxing, taking your gear once you have what you want from min to max stats. This takes a ton of time in earning the credits and resources need, besides collecting the actual gear.
2. The Crafting and Recalibrating systems at best are an insult to the sheer amount of time you have to spend to get to that point. Why, because for some idiotic reason they decided to make the result of such tasks produce weapons or gear that have a wide range of possible stats, meaning you have no idea exactly what you're going to get. I'm sorry Ubi, but luck should never be a part of the process in a game like this, it feels like you're trying to make loot box gamblers out of us.
3. Even once you get a high enough gear rating, be it with a gear set or not, the loot pickups become worse than just stagnate, but insulting. I used to regularly find better gear and weapons, but for some time now I usually find gear about 1/3 the rating of what I have, or weapons about 1/2 the rating. And this is loot even in DZ 3 and 4, and on Challenging mode mission replays even on World Tier 4. The only glimmer of hope I've had is recently I FINALLY found a 200,000 DSP AR among mostly crap, on a Challenging mission after going to WT4.
4. Utter lack of enemy AI balance, even after all are supposedly at level 30. The streets of NY in the Light Zone after beating the campaign and going up to level 30 WT 1-4 are still littered mostly with low level enemies, whom are only marked by a single red health line above their head. Very few are purple or yellow rated, which have armor bars atop their health bars. Yet if you step into West Side Piers, or DZ 5 or up, or take on Challenging missions, THEN you finally see enemies that actually FEEL at level 30 or more.
5. Stupid weekly or twice monthly challenges/events seem to be the only way to source really high end gear. Why the HELL after ALL the time grinding I spent to get higher rated gear should I have to friggin wait a week or two just to replay missions on Legendary, or do a Global Event? These are events that only occur ONE day out of a week or two period, it's idiotic! This is a scavenger's game, I get it, been there before. This however is the first I've ever played that makes you sit around a week or two just for a rare crack at getting gear and weapons you need.
Anyway OP, here's some suggestions, if you're willing. The first place I started picking up High-end weapons regularly was just outside the Camp Clinton entrance. If you wander a little ways into Piers South, it will automatically cause waves of enemies to come. These are various challenges that pop up when entering the North and South West Side Piers districts. All you need do is retreat to the concrete barricades, and they will only come within a certain manageable distance of them.
Once you clear a wave, you should have enough time to collect some dropped weapons before the next wave. The JTF will be there to help. Once you have both non signature skills unlocked, it's wise on solo play to use the turret and seeker mines to disorient, distract, suppress and kill enemies. I use Gas Seeker Mines, followed by the Sensor Turret. This is to disorient them before the turret shoots at them. Note that I've also taken DZ Supply Drops using this method, but DZ 4 or higher takes much better weapons, gear and tactics. It's always best to place the turret high, so consider taking cover near a tall truck if you can. This gives it the ability to shoot over cover and is less likely to take damage.
Completing events like this also has decent rewards other than just credits. The game definitely becomes more manageable and fun once you get better gear and weapons, I just don't like what they put you through to get them. There's going to be a few people here tell you otherwise, but what they don't always tell you is they have been playing this game for 3 years with well over 2000 hours into it. It's a lot like a subscription "Games as a Service" title that expects you to donate all your leisure time to it, as if you have no life beyond it. Some of us have better things to do. A person should never have to tell their friends or loved ones, "Oh, no , sorry, that's the day I've set aside for TD Global Event or Legendary Challenge". I can see why some say gaming is like being addicted to hard narcotics, at least when they design games as greedily as this.
I am level 12.. joined with some higher level friends... now when I play solo, I walk out and get killed via a 1 shot kill by someone with a pistol.. while I unload a LMG into them. and get like minimal damage to them. I am trying to set myself down to a lower tier.. but not sure, all I see when I google is people setting missions to lower or higher levels. I am talking about just walking out of a safehouse.
THanks!
You are just undergeared. Once your gear is on par it will just be an extension of what you were doing before. At least in TD1 you can lower the tier at any time. In TD2, once you have a certain gear score and do certain missions, you automatically jump up to the next level and everything becomes "Invaded". I wasn't done with what I wanted to do before continuing on. There is no warning before starting the last task needed, nothing. You do those things, you are up never to return.
I've got getting close to 3.5k hours across two accounts in TD1, compared to less than 100 (maybe even quite a bit) in TD2. I played TD2 at release, when the WoNY dropped, and haven't played it since. I do not understand why one cannot downgrade in TD2.
But, I digress, if this is TD1 we're talking about, once your gear is at a certain level, you can go up a tier manually (from map screen) and can go back down at any time.
I mostly go solo, but if you need a hand either to level up the last little bit to WT5, add me on this account and/or Bambihunter71 (I play the latter more often). Remember that since TD1 tiers are gear score based, if you are playing with others, they can drop WT5 level gear when you play together and you'll go up in a hurry. If you truly want to go solo the whole way (I mostly did - 8 times...), then I'll suggest looking up the LZ boss map. Run those bosses and when you're done you should have decent gear. It is one Challenging level boss, surrounded by normal strength minions. This is a good way to get classified items as well.
Don't get discouraged. Once your gear is "at level" it's back to business as before.
You won't enter the "Tier system" until you hit level 30. Once you hit 30, you'll see your "level" change to something else. Might be zero, might be 50 or so. Then, as a person wishes (it does NOT automatically advance you past WT1 which is effective level 31), provided your gear score matches the minimum, which it tells on the Map page, you can up the WT levels. Again, those are not available until the end game above level 30.Originally Posted by slate1974 Go to original post
I get this can be annoying, however based on your responses it looks like you werent leveling up your gear throughout the 0 to 30 anyway.
If you're on xbox, add me, my tag is how it is on here, it will probably take roughly an hour to get you some pieces you can use to run solo again. Once its done we can go our seperate ways. Add me and send me a message on XBL when you're on and i'll hop on and help you out.
I mainly play dz, we dont have to go in there if you dont want, however a quick gold cache run or two and you'll be sorted, possible within a half hour. Or can do standard pve but that would take longer to aquire gear. Aquiring gear in the dz does not require pvp and tbh, im a god damn ghost when i need to be, so add me and i'll help you, i can think of at least 3 runs in which you wont meet anyone.
Upto you. I say message me on XBL as i dont look on the forums much and the app will send me a notification.
Tbh, first thing i did when i hit 30 was go back i to the dz up to the safe house when you could buy green gear and bought some of that. That was before they added dz 8 and 9 though. I dont know if they still do that now as i donr go in to buy
