The dynamic has changed; I'll probably gladly take even more enemies, even flankers, if they die as quickly as they do now. Enemies in the open world create less problems now, I stopped reliably running into my death trying to quickly prevent hostages from dying in public executions, normal difficulty in missions actually feels normal now. I haven't tried higher tier control points just yet, but overall impression is that the game has just gotten much more fun to play solo - which is the only viable option for me because most friends refused to buy it after hearing about the return of bullet sponge enemies, and barely anyone in my time zone speaks English.
