After just watching the latest state of the game, I've gotta say it was pretty disappointing that there is still no mention of skill being looked at. As everyone knows skill builds just aren't a viable option at the moment.
I honestly thought this would be up there on the list of things to get fixed asap. Surely the developers can see how little they are being used right now, and would want to address this so the game can have greater diversity of builds?
When we were told that we were getting the green sets, it offered a glimmer of hope. I was hoping we would get something similar regarding skills/skill power as we did with the old tactitians. Instead we got hard wired, which has done all but nothing in aiding the viability of skill builds.
Would it be possible to get some kind of update from the Devs regarding what their intentions are regarding this?
Cheers,
Bonsai.
Seriously, what is going on regarding this?
I've played since D1 beta, through the good times and the bad, but I'm rapidly losing interest in D2 already. Mainly due to the fact that tweaking talents & the DZ are taking priority over fixing a core element of the game that's been broke from day 1.
I 100% agree mate.
The fact they are tweaking talents over launching new content so the 8 players who play PVP can be happy is insulting to those waiting for something new to do. I agree that there are many issues that do need a fix and PVP should take a back seat until we have new content, fixes to current issues and maybe even some fixes for what they messed up in the previous patches.
They nerfed the damage we could do in the 5th April patch, destroyed builds and brought in extra bugs and now they nerf damage from mobs. How on earth does that work? Why not give the mobs 1 hp, we can have 2 hp and whoever shoots first wins!
I kinda understand them wanting to work on the pvp aspect of the game and the issues people are having with the DZ.
What I dont understand though is, at the moment the game feels kind of split, those who want to focus more on PVE and those that have more of an interest in the DZ and PVP, as of right now there are issues with both sides of the game, the thing is though, the issue with non viable skills and thus the lack of build diversity impacts all players, regardless of what kind of content in the game you would rather play![]()
Just look at how many skills are actually used. One slot is almost always reserved for chem launcher heals and the other is either seeker mine or flame turret. Not that they do loads of damage, but they are more or less set it and forget it, and flames are pretty much our only reliable CC. We have over 20 skills that are next to useless or don't even work as intended. I feel like they need to make each skill useful before having them scale with yellow stats, or else we'll just have 4 guys running seekers with Max CD reduction and all yellow stats cheesing everything. This is likely why they won't let us have skill builds or armor builds in the first place since they would sort of break the game. But hey, we're talking about a game that thinks making challenging content only requires them to make enemies spongier and deal more damage.
I really want a skill build other than healer to be viable. I don't see why having a turret and seeker mines shred the NPC's is a big deal if you build it to do so and i don't remember the last time they complained about it. I gave up my gun firepower and toughness in the first game to be a glass cannon of destruction. That was what made it balanced and all they had to do was rush me and get to me, but being evasive and playing smart was all part of the fun. I don't know about that Firefly though and it is the most disappointing skill of the bunch in my opinion. Why use it to blind them and waste a cooldown when my sharpshooter grenades have a huge radius and do it better.
I know I'm not a good example of our "normal" player base. But I've personally had tremendous success running skill builds in tier 5 challenging missions & strongholds.
The main version is my take on Bomber Tact 2.0 It's the Demolitionist with the Artillery Turret & Cluster Seekers. It's sustainability comes from having Patience kneepads. Explosive damage basically everywhere. Backpack talent Skilled. Gun talent Rooted.
Position yourself smartly and blow stuff up. The mods are key. I believe I'm using targeted 2800 sp towards seekers and turrets, 2200 actual SP with around 40% CD.
I also have variations for pyros and healers.
But yes, I would gladly welcome more variations other than everyone running the same exact bland vanilla cookie-cutter build.
I have not built into skill power it's still 00000000000 but I use the Chem Launcher for the gas that destroys proxies and deals damage over time and Ithe drone to heal. It is getting boring just having to play dps with no other viable options. I may go back to the Division 1 for my skills build fix. I can't even use mods on TD2 because I can't risk the skill power over armor or dps.
