Some Feedback, Issues & possible QOL Improvements [List]

    Hello Everyone :)

here's my list of gathered feedback etc. from my ~8 hour session.

    Feedback about the tutorial:

    • I started playing the game yesterday and started off with the tutorial. Halfway in, my friend downloaded the game so we just went on and played the multiplayer without me finishing most of the tutorial itself.
Playing together with my friend was way more 'entertaining' and 'fun' to figure out everything and how it'll work [lack of clearness from the tutorial, sometimes].
I don't know if some things were left out intentionally in the tutorial to incentivize trying everything out and finding out yourself or if the tutorial is really more or less vague.
Now to some feedback to the gaming experience itself and some things that need some adjustments/fixing&bugs.

Feedback about the game itself [campaign, multiplayer, impression]:

    • The game itself is really really fun! I played the game for 8 hours straight and wasn't bored at any time. I played 10 - 15min campaign and the rest multiplayer.
It takes some trial & error to figure out things but once you've figured them out it's a really cool and fun game. The love for detail is also amazing.
I really love being able to zoom into the city and see all the people going about their work and how each factory & farm work. The buildings and people look so clean and well made! Props.

I also really like the little 'Side-Quests' your townspeople can give you.
Taking a photo of the newlywed or experiencing and following the 'Harvest-Fest' with the accompanied music is just wonderful and put a big smile on my face. Especially that big a** financial bonus etc. ;)
Every time again I have to think of the love for detail in this game - it's really beautiful.

I also really like the Quests you can get from the NPCs. IMHO it differentiates the game from other strategy games where you just build your city and stare at the same place/island all the time. You really get around the map a lot with those NPC Quests. I really like them.

The campaign also has a very interesting plot - when I finished it and the screen appeared '... find out more @ April 16th' it felt like a reaaal cliffhanger. But I'm looking forward to continuing and finishing it.

I am excited and looking forward to playing the final version of the game.

    Bugs:

    • Game freezes music continues to play in the background:
While playing the campaign I tried to change from 'Fullscreen' to 'Borderless Windowed' which froze the game instantly, the background music still played in the background though.
Connected problem: After starting the game again after force closing it and continuing my campaign savegame all the UI was present but the whole screen was just light blue. I had to restart the campaign [New Game]
Solution: Force close the game via either the taskbar or task manager. [The same happens when changing from 'Borderless Windowed' to 'Fullscreen']
      Cause: DX12 - I switched back to DX11 now

    • Tutorial:
The tutorial doesn't tell you how to put the goods from your warehouse into the ship of your Uncle, dragging it in didn't work.
Solution: Left Click on the warehouse and then Left Click on the ship from Uncle

    • Expedition 'Mission/Event Screen' [Missions that pop up during an expedition; sick sailor etc.]:
In the mission screen that appears when something happens during an expedition you sometimes can choose from 2 different options which are displayed at the bottom of the screen. When you hover over the options with your mouse the context menu text gets cut off at the bottom and you can't read the whole text.

    Possible Improvements:

    • UI Scaling/Size:
I'm playing on a 1440p Monitor where the UI is rather big. It's okay to play but it'd be nice to have an option to either change the scaling/size of the UI.

    • Possible Tutorial Improvements:
A lot of things are not really clearly explained. It frustrated me a little bit when I played the campaign but in the end, I figured everything (except for the trade) out.

    PC Specs:
    i7-6700k
    16GB RAM
    GTX 980 Ti
All settings Ultra (max), G-Sync, 1440p

    GPU Driver
    Version: 425.31

I'll add more stuff to this list after playing some more during the weekend!
Have a nice weekend everyone! Looking forward to the game, thanks to the Dev Team for the work!

+ 1,000,000 exactly the same experiences here

i've played 1404 for a multi thousands of hours, but when you didn't, it will be a struggle to figure things out, let alone the amount of things (you have) to pay attention to.

For me, it's a little frustrating the music form different scene's (like New and Old world) is starting over and over again, after you switch between them or just scroll over from industry buildings to the heart of your city. The same 'song' is starting over, it'll be nicer to let the songs play through, so when you're 'back' from a quick action somewhere else, the song still plays, but only a few seconds further.

    Cheers!
