It's based on values. As i said before, 5% Weapong almost equal to 10% headshot dmg/crit damage in terms of pure output.
If you have, for example Obliterate, than you recieve equvelent to 10% weapon dmg when crit shot lands. Same goes to headshots.

i'm playing with crit build since release and want to make a pure damage build. "but RNG says me i never get a gear i want("
Becase crit sucks a little. It could work, could not, it very hard to maximize both stats and with 2 red attributes on gear u have no chance to raise skill power or armor.

glass canon berserk builds are funny and powerful in open world events, but will be useless in raid.

I prefer raw weapon DMG on my Rifle build. Easier to chase one stat than two.

My 2 cents (that's probably worth less),

I choose Wep Dmg because both builds are great solid dps. Now will one build give you more elite dps over the other... that's obviously debatable.

I choose Wep dmg because of everything else it gives access too. Like, more blue and more yellow shields to make other aspects stronger. If both builds give all around great dps I choose to be more than a "one trick dps pony, must mid/max every ounce of dps" but maybe that's the survivalist in me. : )

What’s supposed to balance it out is Crit Chance being low, but in this game that’s not the case as you can get up to 60% Crit Chance.

Based on what weapons you like using though that’s what I’d focus on.

I like ar’s and lmg’s but I have a decent amount of Crit Chance (32%).

In pvp crit is king but that depends on the distance you fight at. Guy was just wrecking me yesterday with a chatterbox based smg build, I switched to my lmg and played from further back and he couldn’t get out the checkpoint safely after that. Death after death.

Crit is absolutely not king in PvP.
Widdz's LMG Build is a hard counter to his SMG Crit Build. His LMG damage build does more DPS than his SMG build.
Raw damage can output more DPS than Crit.

To the OP, it depends on how you want to make your build. Obviously, CD and CC synergizes well with SMGs. Raw Damage synergizes well with ARs and LMGs. Headshot damage with MMR.

Headshot damage multiplier in PvP is 0.8.

I'm trying to balance all of it and im not sure if itll work, keeping smg at 50+ cc, and smg damage and weapon damage, and crit damage. My ar still hits crits about every 3rd hit and i have extra damage on it. I just switched from beserk to unstoppable, and my ar is regular hitting for 30k, with 20k base damage. I want something thats a pvpve build. But i think im going to have a damage to elite build put together soon. I am a little tired of building right now.

The issue I have with CritH and CritD is that there is nothing officially written on paper showing what's the base crit damage you do.

You land a crit shot. But you have 0% crit damage. Do you do even then additional damage or is a crit shot with 0% crit damage the same as a non crit hit?

I think this is the important question to answer as it will give a better insight when it's about choosing raw weapon damage vs. CritH and CritD.

@UBI-mods: Could you perhaps shed some light on this?

Edit: I guess we could even test this on the shooting range...
I have the same question, what is the crit multiplier? Does it hit for 2x normal damage, 1.5, 1.2,??? Anyone have insight into this? The math is pretty easy once the base crit damage increase is known, if there even is one without a crit damage increase. If there isn't, then the numbers for crit chance and crit damage are identical and it matters not what you add to your gear, but if there is a base crit multiplier, then that changes the numbers considerably.

This has been the exact thing I was doing till now. But I want to choose now either raw damage or a pure crit build. But I guess I am better off with raw damage. If there is no basic multiplier on crits I reckon you'd better go with raw damage as every hit has the same amount of damage.

I think I am gonna do some testing today at the shooting range, doing crit hits with no points in crit damage and checking the numbers popping up.

Or has someone else tested this yet?
