    Loot oddity this evening...

So I played all this past weekend (like 16 hours) with 507 GS and all my drops were pretty much crap and I am pretty sure the only 500 GS items I got were from FP Caches. This evening, after going through a ton of trouble to create a set of armor I liked, that dropped my GS to 495, due to having to use a 475 backpack and only one 500 GS item, I played for a few hours. I got more 500 GS drops in 3 hours this evening than over the entire weekend, many items of which were an actual upgrade I could use. My wife however, still had on her 510 GS set on and while getting a decent drop or two, she mostly received 498 or less gear, only one of which was an upgrade she could use.

I know a lot of folks have been complaining about this, but is this a bug? Running around with 495 gear and I literally got showered with nice 500 GS stuff, even from sewer crates, but if you have 500+ GS, the good loot stops dropping for the most part? Or is this just the RNG playing games with me again?

Well the other thing that confused me was, that my understanding is that when loot is dropping, it checks your highest possible gear score, including stuff in your inventory and stash, not just what you happen to be wearing. I still have all my old items and can hit 510ish GS if I was wearing it. The only difference was that I wasn't.

I'll never understand people being upset by this. Or claim it poor design

You want to be max gear score in a couple hours? And then what?

Does it not make an upgrade that much more exciting? If you got an upgrade on every drop would that not just trivialize playing the game rather quickly?

I feel people have never played looter like diablo or its ilk.

    I just dont get it.

Dude, I have 6 days, 11 hours and 3 min played for one, so yeah no. Are you running GS 500 or above? If you are then you have probably experienced the same thing as the myriad of other posts in this forum about it... pretty much NOTHING that drops is an upgrade. Tonight however, it was raining usable high end loot on me and all I did was lower my equipped GS.This post was about a possible bug that is stressing a lot of players, but apparently you didn't bother reading it before spouting off.

Also about the "couple hours" comment, I played 16 hours doing pretty much everything in the game this past weekend at 500+ GS, and got zero usable drops, although I did get some upgrades from the 10 or so FP Caches I opened. There is a very fine line between grinding and pure pointlessness. I never played Diablo, but I did play EQ and EQ2 for like 10 years, so I know all about grinding and camping, the difference was, after 12 hours camping in lower Guk, you knew that you would get that dagger sooner or later from that damn frog and you would have a uber rogue. Here I grind and I have no idea if I will ever get that great item with stats I am looking for. I have probably sold or destroyed numerous gear pieces that others would die for, but since there is no trading outside your group, they were garbage to me, except maybe that one stat I liked.

When it was raining great 450 GS loot prior to this patch, yeah that was a bit much, but the exact opposite now is a bit much as well. There should be a middle ground and if lowering my GS is what caused it to work like I think it should, then that is a bug. Getting a slight upgrade that works for a build you want, should be at least a daily reward, not weekly. No-one is asking for god rolled gear on every drop, so please get off your high horse.
