I really hesitated on buying the game because of how D1 was at launch. After reading reviews that said the game was fun... I bought it. And it was FUN! After the Tidal Basin patch... not so much anymore. Please revert.
Regarding cover...
- Some levels are designed so that you get cover from two sides at most. And with flanking enemies this becomes a fun challenge! BUT, having enemies spawn behind your is NOT fun.
- Enemies tossing grenades and molotov coctails to force you out of cover is a good challenge.
- Snipers taking you out if you pop your head out for too long is fun. BUT, not if they one-shot you when you have full health and shield.
- Emptying a full clip in the head of a Hyena rusher, resulting in me getting killed by one hit is NOT fun. Give.players a way to counter rushers! (Suicide bombers are expected to one-shot you, so that's ok). Some more power to our melee attack?
- Robo-dog that one-shots you is NOT fun.
Game is so-so now. And I will wait for the next patch to see if I'm going to recommend it to others.
Off-topic: don't nerf PVE just because PVP doesn't work.
Couple of things:
Hyena rushers - the head is the only place they have armor. Aim at their bags. Couple hits on the bags, they stop running and start wandering in a daze. Even shooting the legs is better than shooting the head.
I have yet to be 1-shot'd at full health. Sniper hounds flash a big red light before shooting. Bomber hounds flash a rotating green laser before they fling grenades.
I call shenanigans. Either you aren't doing the game on Heroic/Challenge, or you aren't doing any of the crazy fights. There's no way you can keep track of everything going on, avoid the flankers, deal with the nades and cocktails, take out who is shooting at you, avoid the gattling gunners AND be not only aware of every dog's red light, but be in cover when it fires - especially as it fires straight through cover so often.Originally Posted by III_Hammer_III Go to original post

Call it whatever you want.Originally Posted by t0lkienish Go to original post
I have never been shot through cover either.
Now, don't get the wrong impression, I am not saying I don't die, because I do, and some instances take more strategy than others, and still some instances you go "oh oh" and try again... but in general, if you find choke points, and don't let NPCs flank you (either by prioritizing them or falling back), find the cover that allows you to stand, etc, instances are more manageable.
There are a lot of sound cues too. I play without any music, so I can hear the sound cues.
Although one shot is rare, what tends to happen is you take a massive hit which staggers you out of cover with no armour and maybe 5k of health. Then you die.
It's effectively a one shot event.
I don't mind that so much, after all, you can one shot the enemy, they should be able to do the same, on occasion. Snipers and explosions yes. Rushers however, absolutely not. Their melee attacks are far too effective. They're double strike is almost as effective as sledge for crying out load.
Not sure what cover the poster means. I don't think all objects count as cover. I've certainly been shot through solid objects that you cant hide behind. In some cases I wouldnt be bothered, a tent shouldnt stop a bullet, but the issue is you cant shoot the enemy back, for them, a tent will stop bullets hitting them.Originally Posted by III_Hammer_III Go to original post
You can still shoot them through car windows tho. Makes no sense.Originally Posted by TG24915193 Go to original post
OK, thank you so much for making me feel so stupid now. I've tried this and, even though it's still a challenge (I play with a controller), I now have a chance of surviving 2 Hyena rushers coming at me. Thanks for this input!Hyena rushers - the head is the only place they have armor. Aim at their bags. Couple hits on the bags, they stop running and start wandering in a daze. As for being one-shot at full health, I guess frustration masks that it's a chain of events, for example getting hit with a paralyzing thingie and then shot while unable to move, or being hit by a grenade which move you out of cover where you're quickly disposed of etc.
