Interesting. And you can confirm that they're still alive how?

In next-gen DA, if you pressed knock-down button on JBA's officers in final mission, Sam would kill them, even if takedowns were less brutal then these in Conviction. And you can know with a little help of thermal vision which is absent now.

^ Dude did you just compare Splinter Cell Conviction to (Shanghai's mind you) Double Agent. [Gulp] That's bold.

Yes, no thermal does mean no KO confirmation from a certain point of view. But it also means you can't say that they're dead.

Bottom line, the com dev says it's so (he wouldn't lie) so it is. The game gives you control over how you want to take someone out, simple as. Is that raelly so hard to accept, or does it conflic with the Beland-can-only-make pew-pew-pew-action-game-plays-itself-regime too much.

At the end of the day, everyone is happy.
N00b pew'em-ups get to kill everyone in sight.
And us stealth vets get to silently KO our way to the finish line.

It's very, VERY good new... But I think, that it is "only said for us"... For HC fans...

Notnig was changed and we can be in dream, that when we put our gun out, we are non-lethal like in old SCs...

I saw many times blood with hand-to-hand combat...

I WANT ZERO KILLS IN STATISTICS!!!

well jazz they should fix the
    "press B to kill"
it always says that so thats need a change

also they could make the body move a littler

    to show that hes KO

but really they should fix the "press b to kill"
if its not always a kill

    Totally agree.
I'm also curious about Death From Above and when you grab a dude. Do the same rules apply there.
I've seen Sam break their necks in both situation, but I've also seen him KO them, I should check the status of his weapon.

EDIT: Doesn't seem to be the case.

I occasionally do KO runs, but they're still very quiet, and they're definitely not violent (I'm very gentle when I cut off their air supply... LoL).

Seriously though, IMO it's one thing to leave a guy with a little headache, another to leave them with a traumatic brain injury.

well jazz there is one death from above

that if you on a wall and do it

you will jump and kick his back (see the video about the suit for the code unlock)

    that can be a KO
but knowing how a body works
if the neck slaps back hard it could break and kill him.
......and from the video it looks like one hell of a kick lol

I really don't think we can take Redding at his word. A few months ago, we were told that being empty-handed would make you non-lethal, and I thought "hey that makes sense; gun=kill; no gun=no kill". Now we see that's not the case. What, I have to ask, is the correlation between a two or one handed weapon, and lethality? It really doesn't make much sense.
The Redding believes the damage is less than lethal isn't good enough. With "Kill" coming up regardless of equipment, no way to see thermal signatures, and enemies unable to revive "unconscious" allies, then it only seems logical to assume that the man you just ganked with your shotgun is dead.
What would be helpful as a tell-tale sign, would be a forming pool of blood under all dead bodies.
