Everything that's wrong with the game
I know DEVS won't read this and that they actually don't care about what we as a community think, I just need to get these out my chest and if I get some feedback I would appreciate it.
I used to enjoy For Honor a lot, even when the perks change was made, but these days it gets really frustrating just seeing an army of Kensei, Shaolin and Shugoki.
First, lets get to the game mechanics, I think there's a lot of room for development here:
- Uninterruptible Attacks(UI): These ones sholdn't exist at all. C'mon, try throwing a punch, get hit in the face in the process and continue with that punch as if nothing happened, I dare you. This attacks cause that some characters spam the same moves over and over with no worries about getting countered, removing this characteristic will make a more strategic gameplay.
- Combined Attack Effects: Why on Earth some attacks have two effects on them? Just make all the attacs Uninterruptible(UI), Unblockable(UB) and Undodgable(UD) because, why not?
Attacks shouldn't combine two of these.
- Undodgable Attacks(UD): They should be undodgable only in the direction of the attack. If someone throws a vertical attack why can't it be dodged by moving sideways, that's just the logic in any combat.
Also, cross attacks shouldn't hit if dodged backwards, the change of direction or a slide in UD attacks looks like a lowsy programing just to justify the type of attack.
- Attack Range: I don't know if it's about frames or hit boxes, but several times I've been hit when I'm supposedly out of range, actually, the attack apparently misses me but I get hurt. This happens a lot with Orochi and Kensei.
- Matchmaking: Each time takes longer to get a match, and it's not even balanced, I'm Player reputation 21 and I get paired against Players above 50, how is that fair? Also, I'm tired of getting error message "You can't join because lobby is full" and getting tossed to the main menu,
If it's full why are you trying to join me there?
- Bots: Level 3 bots are waaaaaaaaay OP. They can parry the hell out of you, it's a rare thing if you can land two continuous strikes on them, they dodge or block everything. Remove them or nerf them.
Now lets get to the characters by Faction.
Knight Faction (I think this is the most balanced)
Warden: It's OK, well balanced with a soft but large learning curve, fun to play with and difficult to play against if controled by a skilled player.
Peacekeeper: She's pretty weak, but compensate with great speed and mobility. I think she's OK as she is.
Lawbringer: Just as the Peacekeeper, I think he is OK currently.
Conqueror: This one needs a buff, he's the weakest among the heavy. He's the one who takes the longest time to get in full guard of all characters who have that.
Centurion: This guy can be a real pain in the a**, but I don't think he's OP, all of his attacks are frontal and have a tell, son it's not very difficult to avoid them.
Gladiator: This one has the worst defense among the assassins, but he's well balanced, he doesn't need any changes.
Black Prior: Let's get started with this guy. He's too fast for a heavy, he can run as fast as a Valkyrie and throw strikes faster that an Orochi, WTF? His attacks are not difficult to avoid or block, but why is he so damn fast if he's a heavy? Also, he's healing feature is absurd, why he can heal just by going full block? No other character does that. Some characters can heal over time, but they need to be out of combat stance, the Conqueror can heal by blocking, but BP heals just by entering his Bastion Stance, that's ridiculous.
Viking Faction
Raider: This character needs a rework right now! His attacks are way too slow even the light attacks, and depends a lot on the pummel strike or his tackle to do anything. Some new light-heavy combos would be great for him, speed up his lights a little.
Valkyrie: She's fine as it is, nice combos and great attacks, but well balanced.
Warlord: After his rework he's pretty strong, but as I said before NO ATTACK SHOULD BE UI. Take that from him and he's still a very solid hero.
Berserker: One of the most OP characters in the entire game, if not the most OP, has a lot of stamina, his attacks are all UI, UD or UB, and sometimes both of those. UI attacks need to disappear. (I know, historically berserkers were almost unstopable, but they fought on drugs, maybe make this a feature of the hero instead of making all of his attacks UI).
Shaman: Well rounded, difficult to play against, she's fine.
Highlander: The kick faint to grab and throw is the problem, I believe it needs to cost more stamina, because it's a very spammable combo.
Samurai Faction
Kensei: Everyone says that Kensei is the most weak character there is, well I disagree. He's too fast for the sword he's carrying and the reach he has. His sword has more reach than the Valkyerie's spear! His soft faints are really hard to follow and has a lot of UI strikes, and almost all of his cross attacks seem undodgeable. This guy needs a nerf. Let me ask you, if he's so weak why there is more and more Kensei in the lobbys? Just make him a little slower accordingly to the size of his sword. He's carrying a Nodachi, for God's sake! Those swords weighted 34 pounds! There's no way he can be that fast with a weapon that heavy.
Orochi: Hes fine as it is, needs no change for the moment.
Nobushi: She needs a buff! She's not very strong and rellies mostly in her kick and bleeding, and her kick is easy avoidable.
Shugoki: This is an example of a work poorly done. Shugoki was taken from the bottom of the vault and made a freakinkg God. All of his attacks are UI, even his lights, does a lot of damage and the fact that his Demon Embrace recovers health and stamina makes that move totally spammeable, in fact almost every Shugoki spams Demon Embrace over and over, because it's UI, UB and has a stupid long range, and it's not easy to dodge. There are several ways to take here, 1)remove stamina recovery in Demon Embrace but let health recovery. 2)Don't make it UI, so it can be stopped even with a light attack, Shugoki is throwing himself head first, I can't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to stop him. 3)Reduce the range or make it easier to dodge, the benefit for the Shugoki is way more than the risk in this attack.
Aramusha: He's fine, just like the Warden, if controlled by a skilled player it's a tough one.
Shinobi: Why is he in this game? He doesn't belong in a melee game, his base strategy are ranged attacks, he can remain unseen until he attacks, I get it, he's a ninja and that would be Ok if he were unable to attack from offscreen. Remake this hero, completly. He's a freaking ninja! Something incredible could come from that.
WuLin Faction
Tiandi: He's the only balanced hero in this faction, needs skill to play with him and it's fun.
Nuxia: She needs a buff, at least a little in health, other than that she's fine.
Jiang Jun: He's fast, maybe too fast, but his real problem is his backstep to regain stamina. WHY? No other character has anything similar to that, a backstep to dodge is Ok, but remove the stamina regain.
Shaolin: Where to begin with this one? Easy, he's BROKEN! Along with the Berserker and teh Shugoki, a totally OP character. He's stupidly fast and his attacks have no tell, his triple tap is outrageous and most of his attacs are too fast to even react. I can't even think on how to fix this guy, but for starters remove his teleportation feature, again, no character in this game teleports, not even Shinobi does.
