Ok, here's proof that the specialization ammo system is completely broken:
Just ran an invaded mission I needed for progression, WT5. Ran the ENTIRE mission with three other random players. Got to the end part where there's 2 yellow elite warhounds present. They are ONE SHOTTING us, not one of us has ANY signature ammo, we are all b****ing about it on the mic, 2 of us die, and have to respawn. AFTER almost all the mobs are dead, including the bosses, we kill two normal red mobs, AND THEN the specialization ammo starts dropping, TWO ROUNDS dropped, AT THE END OF THE MISSION, way past the point where we could have used the ammo to make our lives a bit easier.
BROKEN. THE SPECIALIZED AMMO SYSTEM IS BROKEN.
I have noticed a decrease in the ammo drop rate but now 2 rounds drop most of the time not one (Marksmen). I really haven't had too much trouble getting Marksmen ammo to drop. I am always full and rarely use my 50 caliber rifle unless it is the named enemy at the end because the swap speed is so flipping slow. I can get off 2 rounds off the M700 Carbon before I can even fire the 50 caliber. Yeah the drop rate is lower since the patch, no question, but it doesn't feel ridiculous imho.
Well, it seems the specialization ammo is dropping a bit more frequently now, but there's still the issue of the specialization ammo being completely wiped during transferring from server to server. I fill up at the BoO when I'm empty, just to have it stripped when I join my buddy (also clan leader).
What's the point??
So, obviously they need to let you keep your signature ammo when switching servers, but they also need to make it drop more. That doesn't necessarily mean make it have a higher drop chance, just make it have a chance to drop when an enemy is killed in ANY manner. Get rid of the need to kill enemies in a specific way. The Marksman isn't too bad right now since headshots are easy to get, but grenades are limited and not having the option to use special ammo (incendiary, shock, ect...) at will makes killing enemies under a status effect a pain. I can understand the need for balancing (since the Crossbow and Grenade Launcher are inherently going to be more powerful due to their AOE qualities. However, I still think making the ammo have a set chance to drop from any enemy that is killed in any manner is the best way to go and then simply adjust the drop rates accordingly for each Specialization to balance it.
