I really want the “Marshal” outfit in Far Cry 5, but I missed the live event, but it seems unfair that I can’t get it now. I am a supporter of Ubisoft, so I don’t see why they won’t return the favour, and just release the outfit. I hope they release the outfit. But if they don’t, *redacted*
It's a shame but Ubisoft only seems to care about pre-purchases and early sales. As far as they're is concerned if you missed the live events then tough luck - it's your own fault for not buying it sooner.Originally Posted by Nathan776423 Go to original post
Which is kinda ridiculous since anyone who owns the game is still a paying customer and generating profits for them.
I hope by the time FC6 is released Ubisoft have come to their senses and realise this is not a good way to treat customers, and don't do something this petty again.
They're keeping those rewards locked because they want people to be incentivsed to purchase games on or shortly after release, in case they miss out on rewards.Originally Posted by Superfly56 Go to original post
It's a cheap tactic to boost early sales figures and make the game look like an instant success.
The downside is it annoys the heck out of people who bought the game too late to get the rewards. But by then the sales figures have already been published, so who cares, right?
What a terrible strategy;
I bought the game day one but do to my work i was away during Arcade Noon being run. I had hope later in the year when they reran some events but Arcade noon wasn't one of them. They did release the Heartbreaker reward to everyone so i don't know why they can't just release everything, or at least rerun the events that didn't get a second chance.
The problem is they originally said those rewards were going to be time-limited. So releasing them now would cause several problems. Including;Originally Posted by Superfly56 Go to original post
- It potentially pee's off people who obtained the rewards under the impression that they were time-limited and not going to be available for everyone. There could even be grounds for a lawsuit if they did this, since it would mean they lied about the rewards being time-limited content, and thus mislead people into buying something.
- Also, if people are 'on the wall' for buying future games they might not bother with an early purchase if they think Ubi will just release the limited stuff later. So they end up waiting and buying the game in a sale. Which potentially both harms profits and early sales figures.
They've basically painted themselves into a corner here, because releasing the content could upset the early purchasers who participated in the events. And not releasing the content pee's off the people who missed it. So either way it's lose-lose.
To be fair though, don't specifically blame the FC5 devs. As it's probably more because of the incompetant 'sales and marketing' department. Who in all likelihood know jack-**** about games.
Then why rerun 7 events? If they are supposed to be timed limited. That didn't piss off everyone that already had those outfits.
The event mentioned "If you missed a Live Event, don't worry: variations of the rewards will be available in the CORRESPONDING IN-GAME STORES, too. This way, you'll be able to get access to the same items, albeit with a different look" Which is extremely misleading to people as it does not clearly state it would be the weapons only.
when the live events first started on Twitter the Far Cry team were responding to people telling them not to worry they will be added to the store at a later date. Then later in the year telling people that they would remain exclusive forever.
I can't imagine a single person pissed off if they released the rewards to everyone. This isn't a multiplayer game where other see what you wear. How about release the outfits as paid DLC which would satisfy everyone. Those who earned it through game got it for free, everyone else has to pay money. but in the end everyone wins.
