This isn't a recent trend in videogames.

Diablo 2 had seasonal play. That game came out early 2000. And yes it's relevant, you can attempt to deny it but.. Diablo and the arpg genre is the daddy of all "loot shooters". Literally almost every single loot mechanic has been borrowed from PC based aprg and implemented into loot shooters.

With every single content release of every single mmo that I've played(it's alot) the top end gear was outranked by the trash gear(greens) dropped by average mobs the day the new content released.

This is part of the reason we continue to play. If I invest 60 bucks (or more depending..) and after say 30-50 hours if play I'm at top level and able to just destroy everything with the gear of my chosing and all of the loot that falls I don't even need to look at then why would I continue to play? Why would majority of the player base continue to play..

The reason we do is called progression. We get to the top. Min max.. destroy everything the devs have given us.. wait until more content. Rinse and repeat.

To be honest.. I wouldn't be against full blown resets occasionally lol. That might be a bit to hardcore for most of the community and why I think they haven't implemented anything like that..

My point being is.. while you may see a few post here on the official forums crying about this sort of thing.. please know you are in a minority. Most of the community won't step foot in the forums because we've learned long ago that the posters here for the most part are just casuals that will be gone from our community the moment the next flavor of the week drops.

If you're wondering why Ubisoft doesn't respond to most of this stuff with "real" answers and instead throws out **** like.. "oh is that how you feel? Tell me more!" And never ever responds again.. is because they know exactly what we know.

I haven’t invested hundreds of hours into his game yet, like some. I have a full time job and a family, so my play time is limited. But these type of decisions from devs of recent games (this one, Destiny, Anthem, etc) seem to be catering to people who want to play the game and stream it for their full time job.
There's already a solution for those such as yourself who don't want or have the time to grind up to the highest tiered worlds/gear...Just stay in your current tier. You can even enjoy normalized DZ's if you want. This game is catered to casual gamers wayyyy more than the hardcore players.

Is anyone aware of a similar infusion mechanic in this game that would allow one to bring that white unicorn gear piece up to a higher gear level? If not...I’m afraid this game has lost most of its appeal for me.
Destiny is worse; after grinding for the powerful weapons they get nerfed or left behind by bungo; happens Every. Single. Time. I played that game since Destiny 1 day 1, finally quit for good a few months ago.

Regarding your infusion question, I'm seeing the calibrating mechanism as a way to perpetually carry over the best perks on my old weapons/gear to new ones when I need to increase gear score.
