Think about that for a second....

Can't change something that hadn't happened yet.
There was no WT5 before the patch, so none.

But in WT4 i can't really remember getting any yellows below GS450, so if we did get them it must have been a very low number. And i remember get constant upgrades without cheating the system, now i will probably get one +3 GS item every 100 drops. And honestly i don't have nearly the cash to buy my way to GS 500.

This is normal for looter shooters. Most stuff you get from destiny is below your power level unless you complete a milestone or get an exotic or prime Engram:

And it’s a 8 point difference which means you can mod it up to 500 easily.

    Nothing to see here

This is OK: Starting at 450 GS and reaching WT5, you slowly progress towards 500 GS.
This is NOT OK: At 500 GS and above you still get 490-500 GS gear.

Anyone with any common sense thats ever played a loot based game knows and understand how lvl items drop. So where is all this "it's a bug, I'm in WT5 and not every drop i get is 500+" stuff coming from?
Dude, you should learn to understand what others saying. Or you need to get an english course if that's the problem. I'm saying it's NOT a bug, I'M TRYING TO CALM DOWN PEOPLE who keep saying it's bug and they're wondering what happened. That's why I shared this information with the clip. The point was INFORMATION SHARING! You got it finally? And where all that 'it's a bug' coming from? Check the forum threads. A lot of people started threads with rage about this, so I created this thread in General Discussion category to share information as an answer to them. (I also tried to search those threads and link this thread as an answer). Why? To help people. I hope you got it finally.

I'm totally fine how it is.

(And by the way you are not right when you say there wasn't any change. Since on world tier 4, before the patch, when the maximum loot gear score was 450, the game worked the following way: you got only 450 gear score items after a while (or above by 3-4 points from lvl450 field proficiency cache). And when you arrived to world tier 4, you started to get slightly better items what you had in world tier 3 and your field proficiency cache was increasing slowly up to 450. Once you reached it, or a little bit after, you started to get only 450 from any drops, chests, quest reward etc... But now it's different based on the threads. People say they reached lvl500 and they still get only 493-498 and they don't get any 500. Other says they get 500 sometimes before reaching 500. Some say they reached 500 GS field proficiency cache and they still get the same lower items from anywhere. This is different what it was in world tier 4. But for me it's absolutely okay and I have no specific problem with the whole thing. The clip just proves that it's not a bug. They (the developer team) know how it works and it's intentional, not a bug. And this post was created to share this information)

UPDATE: personally I rather worry about the fact, that you can one-shot Coyote, the Jefferson Trade Center end boss in solo challenge in world tier 5 with a crossbow shot in your untouched world tier 4 gear I did. - Who needs 498 gear then? Joking, of course.

This wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem if we still had the optimization and specialization stations from the first game, but we don't.

We have the same end game gear score RNG, combined with a far more restrictive modification system meaning the RNG for getting optimized gear sets has gone through the roof. I think a huge chunk of the disappointment stems from players getting max gear for world tiers 1-4 assuming this would transfer across to world tier 5 balancing the RNG increase the changes to gear modification created.

People are pis*ed because we now have the worst of all RNG worlds when it comes to gear, it's just as hard to get max GS gear, and we can do far less to fix bad stat/talent rolls once we do.

The stat difference between a 490-499 and a pure 500 is miniscule, so it doesn't matter much on paper. However I know that sub 500 number is going to bug a lot of players to no end, myself included. Bad decision that just causes frustration.

Ok but why didnt they communicate that with us in the patch notes or announcements here on the forums? Hearing about their "fix" in a twitch clip is not how I want to hear from the people developing the game ive put hundreds of hours in. Also if i do Challenge or Heroic difficulty when I max to 500 and still get under 500 gear I might just quit the game. Even being intended it just feels unrewarding. What a **** patch this was.

If this is true I cannot continue with this game franchise anymore. I have all the time and money to buy MTX in the world but this much grand scale of rng I cannot handle. It’s like EVE online but everything is earned by rng. It’s a hard pass. I’ll be around till 8 man raid and no word on it then I’m out I guess.
Paid $120 for a game I cannot even own. This leaves me such a sour taste in my mouth. I believe it’s a game service, it’s not a product anymore. So I’m afraid if they still ignore the community and insist on they do whatever they want to do with their creative will, I’m afraid I’ll not only have to stop playing but completely stay away from the brand name which is Ubisoft. But there’s still bright side, it’s a service so it’s bound to change for the better. I bought The Division 2 game. I feel the strong disrespect towards the people who have surpported this game from the beginning to change something like this behind curtain. I won’t be surprised if The Division 3 is going to have magic power and dragons.

If the difference is minor then why change it at all? It seems like something else is at play here.
If they force players into the DZ again it will be bad.
Is you gear re-calibrated? 500 native GS and 500 calibrated GS are two different things.

Besides, it doesn't change what I wrote in my first post. The difference between a 495 piece and a 500 piece is minuscule. However the further down the GS-rank you go, the bigger the difference will be. Of course, I agree that getting pieces 19-20 GS-points below your gearscore is ridiculous, but that's a different issue than what my original point was. In my opinion they should have continued with the same system as before, where WT4 GS450-cap meant that once you got high enough GS, you only got drops that were GS 450. WT5 and 500 cap should result in only GS 500 drops once you hit that threshold.
