Destiny currently has a LOT more to do at endgame. Between strikes, gambit, and raiding (I'm not a PvPer), plus world activities, I was entertained for months after hitting gear cap. In Div right now at max GS as a PvEr you... farm control points/replay missions and do world stuff like bounties and faction chest farming? I'm not knocking Div, it just came out and has a ton of content for a new game with a lot more coming, but the point stands for the state of the game right now. Once you hit max GS there isn't much to do progression wise. I know in WT4 after I hit 450+ and ironed out my build, I almost lost interest in the game.Originally Posted by OneHairyGorilla Go to original post

And when you hit the soft light all that is meaningless as only weeklys grant you light/power increase unless they changed it for the annual pass, meaning you're just wasting time or like picking up loot 20-40 levels below you, heck spiders bounties where worthless apart from his weekly and even then not a 100% power upgrade at high enough power levels, it was killing mobs to the get a yellow thing to drop again on a time gate(forget its name but you had to take it to a vendor and cross your fingers it was in a slot you needed)Originally Posted by BioXTC Go to original post
Also running strikes was 100% a time waste as they dropped nothing and only ran because of the daily/weekly bounties.
I loved doing strikes even though I didn't get gear from it. I mostly ran the vanguard strikes for the fun of trying to get great scores and the challenge. Same for gambit, it wasn't about gear, it's about fun. But yeah, in every looter you'll hit a point where you just can't progress gear wise (and why I quit Destiny, Strikes/Gambit/Raiding kept me for a long time, but eventually those get stale too), but that's why it's important to have activities that are fun outside of the gear grind. And again why I'm surprised that people are complaining about the already lightspeed gearing in Div, when it has almost no "fun outside of grind" things to do right now.Originally Posted by OneHairyGorilla Go to original post
I still don't know why these looter shooters just don't follow diablo, I can play diablo hours on end and still get better loot, I keep playing it because there is going to be a new gear drop any minute, maybe Borderlands 3 can save this genre lolOriginally Posted by BioXTC Go to original post
Maybe its just me but I don't mind grinding as long as its for something worthwhile, atm its a double grind for no reason, the end game should be about grinding gs500 drops to find the perfect ones then once you got a perfect set, try another build, but now its a slog just to cap and finding gs500 seems to be random increasing time needed to be played but not enjoyment.
Like someone else said its not a sub based game, they don't get paid for keeping the player slowed down in RNG so why do it other than to upset the player base that will probably just quit bar the hardcore? Doesn't make sense to me.
For nearly a month in World Tier 4 we hit a soft cap of 450 GS, of which then all gear dropped at 450 + 1-2 points. Field Caches, Clan Cache, would almost be a guarantee + a few more points. The only real way to break into 460's was to optimize and cap an attribute. On the verry rare occasion you could get a 460-470 item to drop, and optimize it close to 480.
So at WT4, 450 was the soft cap which guaranteed all loot from then on would always drop at least 450, from then on it was a slow rare chance to increase unless you optimized an attribute to raise the GS. Finally reaching the Hard Cap of 480.
World Tier 5 should be the same. Soft Cap 500, which then guarantees all loot will drop no lower than a GS 500. All items after start the slow grind between soft cap 500 and hard cap of 530. 1-2 GS point increase on normal loot drops, 10 point increase on Max Attribute Optimization, Uber Rare Drop with 10-20 point increase from equiped gearscore average.
The above only fixes the first issue of Gear Score. The Second Issue with WT5 gear is the stat roles. They should incrementally get better stat roles as the gear score increases. This is not the case between WT4 and WT5. Case in point I am still using my WT4 450+ Loadout (Actual GS 466). I am still wearing my WT4 gear because they are vastly supperior to the 490/500 drops I am getting.
My WT4 weapon is superior to any WT5 weapons I have looted.
My WT4 gear is vastly superior to any WT5 gear that has dropped, Better Armor, better Attribute roles.
There is no real difference between WT4 and WT5 gear stat wise.
Base Armor value is about the same.
Attribute values are equally the same.
When you hit world tier 5 (END GAME), WT4 gear should be entry level to Normal Content maybe Push Hard Content. As you gain in GS you're the stats on gear should improve character performance as you reach 480GS your starting to get into Challenging, as you Surpass 500GS your comfortable in Challenging and pushing Heroic.
However, I can waltz right into WT5 Challenging and dominate content in my 466GS WT4 Loadout, and can push Heroic and survive.
In short the gear issue is two fold, GS level and Gear Stats.
WT5 Gear Needs a Soft Cap of 500 which will garantee all drops from then on will be garanteed 500 and a hard cap of 530.
WT5 Gear Needs to have greater Stat Values than WT4 gear.
